At times they experience lack of any ties with others, a sense of distance and strangeness towards others, and in extreme circumstances isolation, or even a peculiar “social death” This kind of solitude may have various faces. Most often it is experienced by the elderly, the suffering, although it touches also the young, or even children. In each man’s life solitude is a source of suffering, one of his many faces, and – like any suffering – it is a challenge of moral character. The person is called to make solitude an occasion for manifesting his moral greatness and spiritual maturity. Solitude, like any suffering, can make the person better, or degrade him. The Church is called to eliminate its negative effects and rear its members to live through suffering in a creative manner.Pozycja Die Moraltheologie zwischen Offenbarung und zeitgenössischer Kultur. Ausgewählte methodologische FragenZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2012)Jednym z tzw. U podstaw decyzji moralnych, postaw oraz konkretnych czynów można bowiem odnaleźć przyczyny w swej istocie „kulturowe”, to znaczy związane z aktualnie akceptowanymi i promowanymi wizjami człowieka, społeczeństwa i świata. Istniejąc w ramach określonej kultury, człowiek w pewnym stopniu przyjmuje i wyraża w swoim działaniu świadomość moralną własnej epoki. To jednak przysparza jej ciągle wielu problemów. Niedocenienie tzw. źródeł kulturowych prowadzi ją zazwyczaj do antyracjonalnego biblicyzmu, z kolei przesadne akcentowanie – w skrajnych przypadkach – do podważenia tradycyjnego nauczania Kościoła w takich zagadnieniach, jak: źródła moralności, czyny z natury złe, istnienie obiektywnych norm. Jeśli początek i cel życia moralnego będzie postrzegany na płaszczyźnie wyłącznie naturalnej, wówczas i źródła kulturowe refleksji zajmą istotne miejsce w argumentacji. Pozycja Dziecko ofiarą antykultury przemocyZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)Violence against children has different forms and calls for various measures to eliminate it. However, this will be possible, when will determine not only the symptoms, but also the source of violence. These sources should be seen not only in the material conditions of the family, but also in the contemporary culture, that by creating the space for violence, it rather becomes an anticulture. The child becomes the victim of a „culture” based only on the material values, moral relativism and religious skepticism. Violence is also born of lies, manipulation, selfishness, consumerism, utilitarianism, extreme liberalism.Pozycja Ekologia – prawdy i mity przesłanie moralne Kościoła. W poszukiwaniu fundamentu personalistycznej koncepcji miłościZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2011)Catholic reflection on love is a synthesis of natural experience, philosophical – including pre-Christian – thought, and the message contained in the Bible. The Holy Scripture does not, in fact, constitute a systematic lecture on love, but in a way that is characteristic of it, using its own terminology, images and symbols, presents the essence and characteristics of love. One of such images is imitating Christ that reveals the basic elements of the personalistic conception of love. As the Biblical terminology and the context of imitating Christ show, love is born of His call and gift. Hence it has a supernatural character. It puts in order all the dimensions of human life. In its light no area of human existence is autonomous. In a fundamental way it defines human behavior. Love that is shown in the image of imitating Christ engages all the person and is based on its dynamics. It assumes involving human freedom. Also sacrifice is its expression. This love has the ability to create a community not only with God, but with other people as well. In the light of imitating Christ it is the most adequate attitude towards the recognized value of the person of the Teacher and His disciples. Hence the image of imitating Christ contains everything that contemporary personalism tries to formulate in the philosophical language.Pozycja Kapłaństwo – dar i tajemnicaZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)The Year for Priests concluded on 11 June 2010 was a special opportunity for the Church to reflect on priesthood in the changing situation. Contemporary attempts made by priests to give priority to ago over esse (acting over being) urgently require thinking over the essence of priesthood again with respect to that esse; and in this task defining it as a gift and mystery may be helpful. Such a definition of priesthood is not a new thing, but also today it may be considered a topical key for understanding its essence. The Holy Scriptures and the Tradition of the Church emphasize that the gift of God is the source of priesthood and its nature. The gift is presented to the very person who is ordained, but also to the Church, or even to the whole mankind. The statement saying that priesthood is a gift also leads to recognizing a mystery in it. It is the mystery of God’s love why He summons only some people, and not others; why He grants his grace only to some people. The gift of priesthood is a mystery also in the sense that it makes one able to celebrate God’s mysteries. The particular connection between the ordained person and Christ is a mystery, which is expressed in the statement that a priest acts in persona Christi. If priesthood is God’s gift and at the same time a mystery of God’s choice, one may not demand it as if it were his due right. Nobody possesses the right to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders. It is God’s gift that is the foundation of priest’s service and of this exceptional dignity of the one who accepts the gift. At the same time the gift gives rise to obligations on the part of the one who is presented with this dignity, but also on the part of all those to whom the service is directed. It requires agreement and cooperation from the one who receives the gift. The duties of the community are reduced to accepting the gift with gratitude. Talking about priesthood as of a gift and a mystery is ultimately a defense of the primacy of grace in the priestly vocation. It also agrees with the whole vision of moral life based on a gift and demanding a free answer from a man.Pozycja Ks. Radosław Kimsza, Od obrazu do podobieństwa. Tomasza Kard. Sprawozdanie z sympozjum (KUL, 19 X 2007 r.)Zadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2008)Pozycja Ku aretologii personalistycznejZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2007)The Catholic doctrine about virtues has been formed on the basis of the philosophical Hellenistic reflection. Supplemented by biblical premises for all centuries it has been present in moral theology. Owing to traditional aretology we encounter more and more criticism. The picture of virtue it outlines is too ontological, static, individualistic, and naturalistic. Thus there appear claims to have a more theological, Christocentric, and personalistic approach to virtue. This approach would truly render the specific character of moral action at the level of Christian existence, and it would take into account the findings of the contemporary sciences about man. This kind of revival is still more a postulate than a fact.Pozycja Miłość, wierność i uczciwość małżeńska. Przesłanie moralne Kościoła. Sprawozdanie z sympozjum (KUL, 1 XII 2005 r.)Zadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2008)Pozycja Moralne aspekty bezrobociaZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2004)Unemployment is one of the most important economic-social problems of contemporary societies. At the same time it is a profound moral problem because of its consequences, sources and challenges that it carries with itself. The Church cannot remain indifferent to this problem if it wants to follow the way shown to it by Christ Himself. The way is man – also a working man or a man depraved of work. The Church’s numerous documents bear witness to its interest in the phenomenon of unemployment. This theoretical analysis is directed to practical aid to people afflicted with it, as well as with a lack of basic necessities that follows from it. Negative consequences of unemployment that the Church tries to struggle with in cooperation with the lay community, are connected both with the individual and the social plane. They violate man’s dignity and the quality of family life. The problem of unemployment of young people is an especially urgent one to solve. Lack of work or fear of losing it influence also the religious life. Unemployment may be overcome if its true causes are recognized. Removing the causes of unemployment, and along with them unemployment itself, requires that everybody is involved: the state authorities, employers, entrepreneurs, even international organizations, the unemployed themselves, and everybody else, especially believers.Pozycja Nakazy i zakazy na sprzedaż? Teologia moralna w dobie komercjalizacji wiedzyZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2017)Współcześnie dają o sobie znać bardzo silne dążenia do powiązania nauki z gospodarką. Pozycja O nowe oblicze patriotyzmu. Refleksja nad nauczaniem Jana Pawła II do PolakówZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2005)The love of homeland, called patriotism, is a duty that comes from faith. The fact that it is now undervalued results from a mistaken understanding and makes us seeks not only its true meaning, but also new means of expression and new modes of its realisation. The contemporary context for the attitude of patriotism is determined, above all, by the unifying of societies. Therefore there are many who to excuse their abandonment of the love for their homeland on behalf of uniformity. In the teaching addressed to his compatriots Poles John Paul II points, above all. to the duty of prayer for their homeland and to their various commitment on behalf of the common good. Patriotism is expressed in a series of other particular attitudes, such as: the knowledge of history, tradition, culture, or even attachment to native landscapes. Man should be brought up for this kind of attitude by his milieu. The Pope’s teaching has a universal character and although it is addressed to Poles, nevertheless should be referred to all Christians who take into account the good of the whole human family and are at the same time citizens of their own homelands.Pozycja Orders and Prohibitions for Sale? Moral Theology in the Age of Knowledge CommercializationZadykowicz, Tadeusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2017)Nowadays, there are very strong aspirations aiming to link science with economy. These aspirations create specific problems for humanities which do not generate products, technology and patents for sale, and thereby do not bring measurable benefits to industry and universities. Moral theology, whose essential task is to define norms, orders and prohibitions, may rather seem to restrain innovative economy than to be its driving force. However, moral theology provides practical indications which can give a more human character to the technological development. It is possible only when its relationship with business at the level of scientific research is as brief as possible, and the financing is completely independent from the market laws.
