In the present article the author tries to explain the blessing of persecuted by exegetical analysis of Mt 5:10 in the context of the First Gospel and by comparing a different forms of persecution with parallel text in Lk 6:22. He searches the answers on the questions: How to understand the blessing of persecuted? What is the Sitz im Leben of Matthean community? How to explain the persecution for righteousness’ sake? What does it means that persecuted persons are the owners of the kingdom of heaven? The often use of the term διώκειν in the Gospel of St. Matthew (6 times) shows us the importance of the fact of persecution in the Matthean Community. The analysis of Mt 5, 10 and its context enables better understanding the Gospel of Matthew in the key of persecuted Christian community.
