Abstract

Koncepcja cierpienia w nauczaniu Jana Pawła II jest czymś więcej niż ból, a odkrywanie jej sensu jest zadaniem trudnym. Cierpienie złączone z krzyżem Chrystusa wzbogaca Kościół w łaski, które są tak bardzo potrzebne w uświęceniu i zbawieniu człowieka. Każdy człowiek jest powołany do świadectwa o Bogu, a w szczególności ten doświadczony chorobą, który łączy swoje cierpienie z cierpieniami Chrystusa. Jest on świadkiem Boga i tym samym dowodzi, że Bóg naprawdę istnieje. Ludzkie cierpienie ma moc zbawczą i uświęcającą dla drugich dopiero wtedy, gdy jest zanurzone w tajemnicy krzyża Chrystusa.

John Paul II concept of suffering is much broader then the idea of pain. Discovering the sense of suffering is very difficult. Suffering merged with the cross of Christ enriches the Church with graces that are required for the man to be sanctified and saved. Every human is called up to witness for God. This is especially true in case of a sick person, who connects his or her suffering with the suffering of Christ. He or she is a witness of God and by the same proves that the God truly exists. Human suffering possesses a power of salvation and sanctification only if it is immersed in the cross of Jesus Christ.
