Opis
This article was written in the margins of research on the thesis about the cult of St. Anthony of Padua in the metropolis of Upper Silesia, especially in the light of churches’ invocations. As in the whole Church, also in Silesia, St. Anthony is the particularly venerated saint. Forms of this worship are very rich and still alive in the minds of the faithful. In addition to the liturgical forms (texts form Mass and canonical hours, churches’ invocations), there are also many forms of non-liturgical. They live especially in popular piety. This is apparent in the Silesian prayer books and song books, as well as in iconography (paintings and sculptures). Almost in every parish there are gift boxes for the poor, the so-called. “Bread St. Anthony” The universal consciousness of the faithful St. Anthony is the patron saint of lost things, and the hopeless situations. These forms of popular piety are still waiting for a thorough scientific study.
