Abstract

The Article is about the St. Matthew’s evangelical story of the stilling of the storm on the Sea of Genezareth (Matthew 8:23-27). The problems of the literary nature were covered first – the scope and the context of the description, the primal form of the story of the miracle, the literary dependence of Matthew’s story on the Mark’s description (Mark 4:35-41). Next, by indicating the editorial elements and placing the pericope in the wider context of the Gospel, the effort was made to see the theological ideas included in the evangelical description of the storm on the sea.
