Abstract

The Mother of God is very important in the history of salvation. All her life was inseparably related to God the Saviour of mankind. The study deals with relations of Theotokos to the Persons of the Holy Trinity on the basis of liturgical texts and homilies of the great Saints (such as St. Symeon the New Theologian, St. Gregory Palamas, and St. Nicholas Cabasilas) in the Orthodox Church. Dogmatic investigations with the special interest on the Incarnation of the Logos seem to be necessary for understanding the special role of the Mother of God in the monastic piety and daily prayers of Orthodox faithful.
