Theatrum profanum et sacrum

Abstract

Rzeczywistość jest sceną, na której rozgrywają się różne zdarzenia. Jedni twierdzą, że są one przypadkowe, inni – że zaplanowane, reżyserowane przez Boga. Świat człowieka można postrzegać na trzy sposoby: doskonały świat transcendentny (sacrum); świat immanencji (profanum) oraz świat będący wymysłem i dziełem człowieka, do którego przynależy między innymi sztuka, kultura, teologia. Podział rzeczywistości na trzy płaszczyzny nie przybliża nas jednak do poznania prawdy o świecie. Dzielenie zjawisk na sacrum i profanum prowadzi do sztucznych i nieuzasadnionych podziałów. Znana i wielokrotnie analizowana koncepcja Theatrum Mundi jak i Theatrum Dei, w której bóg przygląda się aktorom i ocenia ich grę, jest niesatysfakcjonująca. Odpowiedzią godną człowieka może być dopiero Theatrum Christi, w którym nie ma podziału na sacrum i profanum, ducha i materię. To teatr, w którym się nie odgrywa i nie przedstawia lecz stwarza.

The reality is the stage on which various events play out. Some people say that they are accidental, others – that they are planned, directed by God. Human world can be described through three perspectives: the perfect world of the transcendent (the sacred), a world of immanence (the profane), and the world, which is an invention and work of man; world which includes among other arts, culture, theology. The division of the reality into three levels, however, does not bring us closer to the truth about the world. Partitioning phenomena in the sacred and profane leads to artificial and unreasonable divisions. Well known and often studied the concept of the Theatrum Mundi and of the Theatrum Dei, where god looks at the actors and assesses their game as unsatisfactory. The answer to what is worthy of man can be just Theatrum Christi, where there is no division between the sacred and the profane, spirit and matter. This is the theater, which does not play, and does not represent but creates.
