Relacja istnienia i działania w metafizyce św. Tomasza z Akwinu

Abstract

W niniejszym artykule została dokonana analiza poglądów Tomasza na temat relacji istnienia i działania w bycie oraz ich wpływu na siebie. Św. Tomasz wykorzystuje scholastyczną zasadę agere sequitur esse, aby połączyć fakt istnienia z dynamizmem bytowym. Z jednej strony podkreśla ona prymat istnienia nad działaniem, z drugiej zaś strony łączy ze sobą fakt istnienia i przejawu tego istnienia, którym jest działanie. Istnienie jest warunkiem działania, ale działanie udoskonala i przemienia istnienie. Na poziomie bytowym relacja istnienie - działanie jest dwustronna i nierozdzielne.This article analyses the views of Saint Thomas on the relationship between existence and deeds in one’s life and their impact on one another. St. Thomas uses the scholastic principle agere sequitur esse to combine the fact of existence with the dynamism of being. On the one hand, it emphasises the primacy of existence over action, on the other hand, it combines the existence and manifestation of this existence, which is action. Existence is a condition for action, but action perfects and transforms existence. At the living level, the relationship existence-action is two-sided and inseparable.
