dc.description.abstract | The Deus Caritas est is a formulation derived from 1 J 4, 8, 16. It expresses the truth that Love is the nature of God. It makes the foundation and sense of God’s being. Love in God means mutual relations between the Persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Thus it defines the nature of the Trinity, a fact that is confirmed by numerous theologians. The love of God pours out from the Trinity, its fruit being creation. Then it becomes the main theme of the human being, and also the source of human love. Love is the foundation of any human activity, broadly understood as the realisation of being. This idea is deeply rooted in the tradition of the Catholic Church, and comes from the biblical understanding of God as Love. It is from the Love of God that human reality is derived. By entitling his first encyclical Deus Caritas est. Pope Benedict XVI drew on the deeply rooted tradition of the Church which in God’s love sees the source of the whole created reality. Thus the Pope has sent a message that human love has its source in God’s love and its practical implementation is a necessary condition of how the human being should properly be realised. The encyclical is also a message for the contemporary world as an appeal to go back to the fundamental values, such that would safeguard a proper development of the historical process. | pl_PL |
