dc.descriptionBlessed John Paul II in the Apostolic Letter “Novo Millennio ineunte” recommended the Christians Christ’s face contemplation. He pointed out the trend of Church development for the third millennium of Christianity and appealed to all the people of good will for deep praying and careful staring at the face of only man’s Redemptor. Contemporary Christ’s cult is rooted in Church tradition and is included in the trend of the worship of the relics devoted to the Passion of Christ were the reflections of His face are found on the textures such as the Shroud of Tourin, Sudarium from Oviedo, St. Veronica’s Vernicle and on the veil in Manoppello. The pictures of Jesus Christ’s face are an inspiration for theology and Christian life. Prayer, offering and acts of charity are the essence of the service to Jesus Christ’s face. Moral implications of contemplative life are realized in the acts of charity towards people in need in whom Christ’s face shines. Contemporary spirituality turning to Christ’s face contemplation may get inspiration from the hints given by Blessed John Paul II, preaching of the present Pope-Benedict XVI and can be revived by the forms of rewarding devoutness worked out by the Congregation of Reparation of the Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ has got many dimensions which complement mutually. The Catholics are called to follow Our Holy Lady in praying contemplation on God and continue the contemplation of the Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ together with Her. There is a need to popularize Our Lord’s face presented on the basis of the Shroud of Tourin, the veil in Manoppello the Orthodox icons and also Catholic pictures painted on the basis of Medieval religiousness. It seems to be the way to interest people in the problem of contemplative praying and inspire further deepen religious reflection.
