Świadectwo wiary

Abstract

Jednym z najbardziej owocnych sposobów promocji i obrony wiary jest świadectwo. Papież Paweł VI napisał o tym w adhortacji Evangelii nuntiandi, że „człowiek naszych czasów chętniej słucha świadków, aniżeli nauczycieli, a jeśli słucha nauczycieli, to dlatego, że są świadkami”. Niniejsza refleksja ukazuje wybrane aspekty świadectwa wiary obecne we współczesnym nauczaniu Kościoła. Autor przedstawia najpierw Jezusa jako Świadka wiernego, który wzywa swoich uczniów do dawania świadectwa. Następnie podkreśla aktualność świadectwa usque ad effusionem sanguinis. Dalej ukazuje powszechne powołanie do świadectwa świętości w zwykłych okolicznościach życia uczniów Jezusa. Na koniec zwraca uwagę na potrzebę dawania świadectwa z radością.

Giving witness to faith is one of the most fruitful ways of promotion and defense of faith. In his apostolic exhortation Evangelii nuntiandi Pope Paul VI wrote that „Modem man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses”. This paper presents selected issues of witness to faith that can be found in the contemporary teaching of the Church. First the author presents Jesus as a faithful witness who calls on his disciples to bear witness to faith. Next he emphasizes the permanent validity of usque ad effusionem sanguinis witness. Further on he presents the universal call to giving witness to holiness in the everyday circumstances of life of the disciples of Jesus. Finally he points out the need of giving witness to faith with joy.
