Wieczerza Pańska w perspektywie dialogu ekumenicznego

Abstract

Liturgia, a zwłaszcza Ofiara eucharystyczna była dla pierwszych chrześcijan centrum ich życia religijnego. Kolejne wieki były areną licznych sporów i kontrowersji, które dotyczyły rozumienia Eucharystii. Także nasze czasy pokazują, że niezależnie od tego, czy nazywamy ją Mszą św., liturgią eucharystyczną czy Wieczerzą Pańską, nie buduje ona ciągle tej wspólnoty, którą chrześcijanie, niezależnie od tego, do którego Kościoła należą, tworzyć powinni. W niniejszym przedłożeniu podjęta została próba pokazania, jak wiele już osiągnięto w dyskusjach ekumenicznych na interesujący nas temat, ale też, co jeszcze musi być przemyślane, by sprawowana we wspólnotach chrześcijańskich liturgia Eucharystii gromadziła przy jednym stole wszystkich wyznawców Chrystusa. Dlatego najpierw sięgamy do źródeł biblijnych, by tam szukać istoty omawianego sakramentu, następnie zostają przedstawione doktryny: katolicka, prawosławna i protestancka. W osobnym punkcie przypomniane jest miejsce Eucharystii w dialogu ekumenicznym, by w zakończeniu skoncentrować się na problemach, które są ciągle otwarte, a które trzeba rozwiązać, aby celebrujący Eucharystię chrześcijanie pamiętali, że stawia im ona zadanie budowania jedności, której idea wybrzmiała w modlitwie arcykapłańskiej Chrystusa, aby wszyscy stanowili jedno.

For the early Christians, the liturgy – particularly the Eucharist – was the central element of their religious life. Over the centuries, however, numerous disputes and controversies have arisen regarding the understanding of the Eucharist. Even today, whether referred to as the Mass, the Eucharistic liturgy, or the Lord’s Supper, it remains a point of division rather than a unifying force among Christians of different traditions. This paper seeks to highlight the progress achieved in ecumenical discussions on the Eucharist while also addressing the challenges that remain. The ultimate goal is to envision a future where the Eucharist brings together all Christian communities at one table. To this end, the study first examines biblical foundations to uncover the essence of this sacrament. It then presents a concise overview of the Eucharistic doctrines of the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions. A dedicated section explores the role of the Eucharist in ecumenical dialogue, concluding with an analysis of unresolved issues that hinder unity. The paper emphasizes that celebrating the Eucharist obliges Christians to work toward building unity, echoing Christ’s High Priestly prayer: “That they may all be one.”
