The Edinburgh Conference on the theme “Witnessing to Christ today“ took place in the Scottish capital from June 2nd to 6lh 2010. This Conference marked the Centenary of the famous World Missionary Edinburgh Conference of 1910 which is considered as a beginner of the modern Ecumenical Movement. The principal objective of the Conference was to celebrate God‘s call to mission and the Anniversary of one hundred years of Ecumenical Movement not to make a progress in theological discussions. Nevertheless an integral part of the Conference was a study program in which Christians of all traditions and from all parts of the globe prepared presentations to stimulate group discussion in nine major themes: Foundations of Mission, Mission and Unity and Mission Spirituality. Other themes dealt with Forms of Engagement, Mission and Power, Christian Communities, Mission and Other Faiths, Theological Education and Mission and Postmodernism. On June 6th the delegates and visitors were invited to the final Celebration at the General Assembly Hall of the Church of Scotland, the historic place of the 1910 World Missionary Conference. At the climax of the closing Celebration the text of “Common Call” to Mission was affirmed by the representatives of world Christianity, including Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox, Pentecostal, and Protestant churches. The “Common Call” to Mission which emerged from the Edinburgh 2010 study process and Conference invites all the Christians to give a testimony by their lives, to welcome one another in its diversity, to recognize the need for mutuality, partnership collaboration and networking in mission, so that the world might believe.
