Salezjanie Polacy na misjach 1987

Abstract

The article acquaints the reader with the missionary work of the Salesians and presents the Polish participation in it in 1987. The Polish presence in international missions involves fifty-two Salesian priests, eight seminarians and three brothers; they work in seventeen countries throughout the world. In addition, there are nineteen priests, fourteen seminarians and one brother in the Polish Mission Centre in Zambia, and four priests are currently undergoing training in Kenya before taking charge of a mission in Uganda. Twenty-two priests in ten countries minister to the pastoral needs of Polish people living abroad. Moreover, there are fourteen Polish Salesian priests and two brothers working in the industrialized countries. Twenty-eight seminarians have gone to spend a year abroad helping with youth work as part of their pedagogic practice. This whole enormous effort is supported by the Salesian Mission Centre set up in 1981.
