25 lat po encyklice „Sollicitudo rei socialis” Jana Pawła II

Abstract

Artykuł stanowi próbę odczytania na nowo encykliki społecznej Jana Pawła II „Sollicitudo rei socialis” w dwadzieścia pięć lat po jej napisaniu. Encyklika ta dotyczy solidarności jako zasady życia społecznego. Korzeniem tej myśli jest powstały w Polsce ruch społeczny NSZZ „Solidarność”, który inspiruje papieża do napisania encykliki o potrzebie globalnej solidarności w kontekście rosnącego podziału świata na bogatą Północ i biedne Południe. Patrząc na powyższy problem z perspektywy dwudziestu pięciu lat, w niniejszym artykule próbujemy odpowiedzieć na pytania: Czy ten rażący podział świata się zwiększa, czy zmniejsza? Czy globalizacja stała się narzędziem solidarności, czy wyzysku? Jak należ, w świetle powyższych problemów widzieć obecny kryzys finansowy dotykający bogaty świat? Artykuł ten jest więc próbą oceny globalizacji od strony etycznej. Pokazuje największe zagrożenie, jakie to zjawisko ze sobą niesie – problem delokalizacji kapitału.

The article is an attempt to read anew John Paul’s II social encyclical “Sollicitudo rei socialis” twenty five years after its being written. The Encyclical deals with solidarity as a rule of social life – social virtue. The article shows first the origin of the pope’s thought, who transplants the lay rule of solidarity into the ground of the social teaching of the Church. The root of that thought is the social movement “NSZZ Solidarity” which sprang into existence in Poland and which inspires the pope to write the encyclical about the global solidarity in the context of the division of the world into the rich North and the poor South. Looking at the above problem from the perspective of twenty five years, the above article tries to answer the question whether that striking division of the world increases or decreases. Has globalization become the tool of solidarity or exploitation? How should we, in the light of the above problems, see the present financial crisis, touching the rich world? That article is then the attempt to evaluate the phenomenon of globalization from the ethical point of view, showing its greatest threat, it carries with itself – the problem of delocalization of the capital.
