Abstract

This article was intended to show how the St. John Paul II Major Seminary of the Diocese of Siedlce over the last hundred years fulfilled the basic requirement of formation for the priesthood, which is the intellectual introduction of alumni into the knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. In the 20th century, the Church in Poland experienced many difficulties connected above all with the First and Second World Wars and the communist regime. Nevertheless, the seminary of the Diocese of Siedlce, thanks to the continuous reading of the current Magisterium’s guidelines and the involvement of more and more educated lecturers, constituted an environment for preparing alumni for the demanding and responsible ministry of the Word.
