Timaios – filozoficzny mit o pochodzeniu i naturze świata

Abstract

Those parts of the dialogue Timaeus are analysed which are supposed to contain Plato’s philosophy of nature. From the modern point of view, the knowledge of the world Plato had at his disposal, besides being poor and sometimes naive, was substantially weakened by a strong tendency to take purely linguistic (not to say verbal) analyses for the analyses of reality. From such a stuff a world’s vision has been constructed, in too many instances anticipating modern philosophical reflections upon science and its results, to iterpret this fact as an outcome of pure chance or coincidence. A hypothesis is put forward that the penetrating Plato’s metaphysics should be made responsible for the persistant actuality of his work.
