Abstrakt
Acedia is a particularly dangerous spiritual phenomenon. According to the author, this “daemon of the south” degrades man’s ability to live a truly personal lite. Usually, acedia is presented as a threat connected with spiritual fatigue which is in further stages of life devoted to God. The author suggests that such spiritual fatigue (burning out) touches also novices and seminarians because they bring from the world two many negative expériences. Evagriush of Pont found a definite place from acedia in the catalogue of main vices. This ancient master of thè desert is convinced that this acedic state may be diagnosed on the basis of definite Symptoms and be treated by respective means.
