Abstrakt
John Paul II wrote: „Africa is a continent where innumerable human beings men, women and children as well as youth are as if discarded by the side of a road, ill, wounded, helpless, pushed away and abandoned. These people urgently need a Good Samaritan who will hasten to their aid” Abject poverty, illiteracy, corruption, wasting of natural resources, exploitation by rich countries, tribal wars, as well as malaria and HIV/AIDS make only some of Africa’ s problems. It seems that this continent’ s curse is not a mere poverty, but the permanent one. Dramatic situation of Africa is a challenge entitled to demand the attitude of solidarity from the contemporary world. Injust political, social and economic structures should be overcome through actions undertaken for the common good. One should understand co-dependence between people practicing the virtue of solidarity, which results in peace and justice for nations all over the world. One should add that African nations and tribes that find themselves in difficult situation are obliged to practice solidarity among themselves.
