Abstract

Christianity is a religion of Incarnation, that is, of a specific encounter of mankind with God. This encounter attains its fullness in the Resurrection of Jesus. Jesus' victory over death marks the beginning of a new phase of history and a new way of life. The authors of this article present the situation of the Apostles in which they slowly begin to discover the greatest mystery – the resnrrection ot their Master. The hour of crisis – of suffering and of death – revealed the stark reality of life and moreover became a call to reflect upon this event in the light of Jesus’ experience during his lifetime and of the newly revealed form of His existence. This new experience constitutes a turning-point which gives rise to hope that love has overcome evil and death. Through the experience of Jesus' new dimension of existence, the Apostles become witnesses of new life. This new dimension of life is also the source of a new outlook on the body and the human person. The experience of the risen Master makes the group of Apostles into a community – a sign of unity between mankind and God and an instrument of the unity of the whole human race.
