Koncepcja wychowania w ujęciu ks. Antoniego Słomkowskiego

Abstract

In this paper the author attempts to reconstruct a pedagogical conception based on the premises and ideas presented by Fr Antoni Słomkowski in his writings. Consequently, this conception is not only grounded in philosophical thought, but also adopts the eschatological perspective on life and education. Also discussed are the relations between the conception in question and the issues of spiritual counselling, which recurred repeatedly in the publication of this Lublin theologian. Fr Słomkowski’s thought may be interpreted in two perspectives: that of the theology of spirituality, and that of theory of pedagogy. A pedagogical conception that keeps in mind the divine plan of salvation of man may be analysed by applied ethics, as it points to the true aim and vocation of a human person. The conception also offers a set of principles by means of which people can make their life closer to perfection. A model of pedagogy, formulated by Fr Słomkowski, is a collection of theoretical and practical guidelines meant to encourage human spiritual development. The vitality of this conception lies in the fact it constitutes a counterbalance for contemporary conceptions of relativistic, liberal or nihilistic pedagogies. It keeps in view the true aim and vocation of each human being, and it puts into practice the postulates of building a civilization of love, put forward in the teaching of John Paul II.
