When Did the Last Supper Come to an End: Polemic with the Thesis of S. Hahn

Abstract

The article is a polemic with S. Hahn’s thesis that the fourth cup of the Last Supper was the tasting of vinegar / tart wine by Jesus hanging on the cross. The author of the article outlines the scheme of the ritual of the paschal meal, assuming that during the paschal meal Jesus instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist. Then he presents the hypothesis of Scott Hahn, which in turn was criticized. The author also presents an alternative hypothesis according to which the fourth cup of the Last Supper is to be drank in the eschatological kingdom of God.

Artykuł stanowi polemikę z tezą S. Hahna, że czwartym kielichem Ostatniej Wieczerzy było skosztowanie przez Jezusa wiszącego na krzyżu octu / cierpkiego wina. Autor artykułu nakreślił schemat rytuału uczty paschalnej, przyjmując, że właśnie podczas uczty o charakterze paschalnym Jezus ustanowił sakrament Eucharystii. Następnie przedstawił hipotezę Scotta Hahna, która z kolei została poddana krytyce. Autor zaprezentował także hipotezę alternatywną, według której Jezus wychyla czwarty kielich Ostatniej Wieczerzy w eschatologicznym królestwie Bożym.
