Abstract

In the present article the author discusses the document issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Answers to the Questions Concerning Some Aspects of the Science on the Church (Responso ad quaestiones) of 29 June 2007. In it the Congregation confirms au thenticity and the meaning of earlier pronouncements on the interpretation of the term subsistit in. After reminding the history of the use of the term subsistit in the author discusses the problem of the degree to which Responso ad quaestiones are obligatory against the background of other doctrinal pronouncements of the Church, as well as the implications of this term.
