Wybrane zagadnienia z heraldyki kościelnej

Abstract

The present paper was delivered at the meeting of the Polish Heraldry Society in Lublin, hence it contains general information. The paper deals with principal problems concerning the Church heraldry (Polish literature lacks even this kind of information) such as: name, the specific character of the Church heraldry, an attempt at a definition, the genesis of heraldic arms in the culture of Christian Churches, the legislature of the Holy See concerning heraldic customs. The paper closes with some remarks on the papal heraldry.
