Abstrakt

Family therapy occupies a central position in both stationary and ambulatory therapy of patients with nutrition disturbances. The aim of the article is to describe the main therapeutic assumptions in treating nutrition disturbances in women. Special attention is paid to the role of family factors – such as: disturbed interpersonal borders, lack of the definition of roles in the family, the requirement of loyalty and sacrifice, ban on expressing feelings, ban on developing one’s autonomy, incorrect parental attitudes and the parents’ incorrect nutritional behavior – in the appearance of nutrition disturbances, and to the importance of changing those incorrect patterns in the process of therapy. Also the effect of traumatic family situations such as: mental disease, alcoholism, emotional, physical and mental violence on appearance of nutrition disturbances is discussed. The basic assumptions of treating mental sitiophobia are presented; therapy of somatic disturbances and teaching proper nutrition habits, individual psychotherapy as well as family psychotherapy and psycho-education belong here.
