Abstrakt

In the Book of Isaiah we find four songs of the Servant of Jahwe. The “Servant” will abide by the Law and He will bring the Law to the nations. It will be the basis for His mercy and for God’s forgiveness. This unusual Servant – a Chosen One – has to fulfill a great mission. “He will bring the Law to the nations”, but not as a judge with a hard and strong hand but rather He will be full of love and mercy. We do not find an answer in the text of Isaiah who the Servant of Jahwe is, but we get to know only his mission. The Servant is chosen from among many because God takes a liking in Him. He is similar to a prophet or a leader appointed for a special task. He will not fulfill his mission in a noisy way and He will not look for publicity or popularity. The Servant will suffer, but His suffering makes sense because He will become the Savior of the world.
