John Paul II, preaching homilies during his pilgrimages to his home country, directed them not at an anonymous mass, but at the actual listeners. As a Good Pastor he knew perfectly well his Lambs in the country from which he was called to the Holy See. Hence in his homilies, besides the basic contents, we find a characterization of his listeners. They are people who not only have Christian roots but who also have many spiritual values themselves. And although as people of hard work they live in the actual world, they seek to change it and to fill it with evangelical values.
