The paper describes ideological back-ground and editorial policy of the weekly „Kierunki”. The periodical was founded by Bolesław Piasecki in 1956 when its earlier counterpart „Dziś i Jutro” was condemned by the Holy Office and placed on the Index. „Kierunki” expresses social and political views of the PAX movement of the so-called progressive Catholics. The activity of the group has no support of Polish hierarchy, and the contient of articles in „Kierunki” is not considered to be representative of the Church. In the weekly however, siome interesting paperes were published that dealt with socio-cultural and historical aspects of religious life.
