Pozycja Filozofia oświeceniowa i jej wpływ na społeczeństwo amerykańskieChłodna, Imelda (Wydawnictwo Diecezjalne Adalbertinum, 2008)The aim of the article is to proof that the Enlightenment philosophy and also it’s opponents had a significant influence on the American policy and the education. This is confirmed by certain key-problems – among other things propagated by Enlightenment thinkers: the new idea of science, morality, policy and also the new understanding of the relation between the nature and the society. United States have been established by Europeans and are based on the rules laded from the European culture. However, we must remember that the European culture is not something uniform. Also the European philosophy is not uniform. On the other hand, America accepted the European culture on its own manner, not always in the same way as it was presented on the Old Continent. What philosophical trends, which thinkers played the greatest role in this case? Among philosophers of the epoch of Enlightenment we have to mention about T. Hobbes and J. Locke. We can not pass over the philosophy of J. J. Rousseau who can be found as the firm critic of the Enlightenment philosophy. The problem of the influence of the Enlightenment philosophy on the American society is essential because the Enlightenment philosophy is the main source of the crisis that we can observe in the American society.
