Pozycja Wkład opactwa Maria Laach w działalność ruchu liturgicznego do wybuchu II wojny światowejMieczkowski, Janusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)In the early twentieth century, the Benedictine abbey Maria Laach in Germany began to play a decisive role in the European liturgical movement. The long-time abbot (1913–1946) Ildefons Herwegen, who encouraged the monks to the apostolate and liturgical studies, contributed to this. The abbey emphasized the beautiful celebration of the liturgy to which the monks prepared liturgical conferences. The liturgical formation included clergy, academic circles, youth and lay Catholics. Scientific research on the history and theology of the liturgy was conducted there. A special achievement was the mystery theology developed by O. Casel. The abbey also carried out liturgical experiments, which became the basis of post-conciliar liturgical reform. The abbey also ran publishing. The most important publications are the journal “Jahrbuch für Liturgiewissenschaft” and the publishing series Ecclesia orans.
