Eucharistie als Quelle für den karitativen Einsatz der Kirche
Anderwald, Andrzej (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
How can the charitable work of the Church be saved from secularization and suppressing references to God? How can we give these activities their rightful meaning? How to regain the Christian identity of the ecclesiastical Caritas? The liturgical constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium of the Second Vatican Council designates the Eucharist as the source and culmination of Christian life and the centre of life for the whole Church (No. 10). Because of this, and in order not to lose the Christian character of the church’s commitment to charity, but rather to let it emerge even more, it seems important to return to this source of Christian life. Even more; it is about rediscovering the connections between the Eucharist and the charitable service of the Church. This sets the goal of the considerations. The reflection consists of three stages: firstly will be presented the importance of the Eucharist for the ecclesial community (1); then the Eucharist as a place of revelation of Christ’s love (2); and as a mission for the realization of the commandment „love thy neighbour” (3).

Związek liturgii z Kościołem, jego duszpasterską misją i eschatologicznym powołaniem
Żądło, Andrzej (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The content of the article opens with an introduction of a reflection of Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki on the dependence of the liturgy and the Church, emphasizing the key truth that, although the Church exercises, and thus “creates” the liturgy, the liturgy provides the Church with life and development. In the context of such a reflection, there is a need for a wellgrounded awareness of what the liturgy is and what the Church is, as well as what relationship should connect one reality with another. Such a demand is met by the article below, which in its content outlines a trajectory adequate to its title, based on the following thematic pillars: 1) Conciliar definition of the liturgy (including a discourse on the implementation of the priesthood of Christ in the liturgy: the presence in it of the paschal mystery, its sanctification of man and its praise of God, and the “foretaste” of the liturgy of heaven); 2) Liturgy by holy and effective action; 3) Liturgy by the action of Christ and the Church; 4) Liturgy as a sign revealing and realizing the Church; 5) Liturgy as the everlasting “today” of salvation; 6) Liturgy as the summit and source of the Church’s life.

    Skuteczność doświadczenia liturgii
Worbs, Marcin (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
This article pertains to the issue of the effective influence of the liturgy on its participants – and in general on those being in contact with it – highlighting its evangelistic and formative effects. In a special manner, the paper takes into account the significance of beauty of liturgical celebration, however it also includes the issues related to the so-called participatio actuosa. The main literature source here are the publications of such outstanding theologians as: J. Ratzinger, R. Guardini and J.A. Jungmann. The analysis of their reflections encourages to rediscover the important role of the liturgy, especially the Sunday liturgy of the Holy Mass, as the imperative event in the religious life of a Christian, as well as to indicate the value of the liturgy experience to all those who, even in highly secularized contemporary times, show relatively high interest in rituals.

    Antropologiczny aspekt modlitwy chrześcijańskiej
Kochel, Jan (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The article presents the anthropological aspect (point of view) of Christian prayer. It is about looking at prayer from the perspective of man, a psychophysical-spiritual being leaning towards God, and having an insight into the human form of prayer. You can consider prayer from both God’s and human perspectives as there is an inseparable connection between the praying person and God. The apostle of nations recommends to Christians a “radical turn” towards God, thanks to the help of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8, 26b-27). It is necessary to convert and admit that man actually cannot pray, and even when he does, it is only possible out of the help and in the power of God Himself. Where should man look for a source of true prayer? What should be the attitude of the praying person? What can be today’s “primer of prayer”? These are the problem questions expressing the anthropological aspect of Christian prayer.

Nova et vetera w liturgii Mszy św. według Mszału Pawła VI
Araszczuk, Stanisław (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The liturgical reform enacted in the Church led to the publication of new liturgical books. One of the first was the new Ordo Missae of 1969, followed in 1970 by Missale Romanum. Although the introduction of the new form of celebrating the Mass was not universally approved of, it has nevertheless contributed to the conscious, active and full participation of the faithful in the Eucharist. The Missal of Paul VI continues the tradition of the Church’s liturgy and implements the decisions of the Second Vatican Council, which laid the foundations for a general reform of the Roman Missal in the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. In that document, the Council decided to renew the texts and rites so that they express more clearly the holy things which they signify; to revise the rite of the Mass to manifest more distinctly the true meaning of its parts and their mutual connection; to provide richer fare for the faithful at the table of God’s word by opening up the treasures of the Bible more lavishly; and finally, to prepare a new rite for concelebration. When summing up the things that are nova et vetera in the liturgy of the Holy Mass according to the Missal of Paul VI, we have to note that the Missal was not drawn up from scratch and is partly inspired by older sources. However, it considerably loosens the Roman Missal’s connection with the Gregorian line, draws on other aspects of the old Roman tradition as well as on the non-Roman tradition, and forms a new synthesis of parts of various origin.

Teologiczne znaczenie wotywnej procesji Bożego Ciała na podstawie „Dyrektorium o pobożności ludowej i liturgii”
Kwiatkowski, Dariusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The article depicts the theological meaning behind the procession of Corpus Christi. The directory on popular piety and liturgy categorizes it as a “votive processions”. When organizing such a procession, one shall follow those theological criteria, which account for all the forms of popular piety, which means it should be of Christological, pneumatological and ecclesial character. The Corpus Christi procession shows the presence of Christ and the Church in a special way. It should be noted, that the popular piety has greatly eased in the process of creation and propagation of Christs’ Holy Body and Blood celebration. This procession is a model form of Eucharistic processions. Being a natural prolongation of Eucharistic celebrations, it contains both the liturgical elements (the presence of the Holy Sacrament, proclamation of the Gospel, prayers approved by the Church, the Holy Sacraments’ blessing) and many forms of local piety (decorating the streets and windows, laying flowers, adoring the altars, folk costumes). To sum up, it must be stated, that the procession which takes place on the day of Corpus Christi meets the requirements regarding theology and liturgy mentioned in The directory on popular piety and liturgy and the Holy Communion and the cult of Eucharistic mystery outside of the Holy Mass, fit for the customs of Polish dioceses book.

Wkład opactwa Maria Laach w działalność ruchu liturgicznego do wybuchu II wojny światowej
Mieczkowski, Janusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
In the early twentieth century, the Benedictine abbey Maria Laach in Germany began to play a decisive role in the European liturgical movement. The long-time abbot (1913–1946) Ildefons Herwegen, who encouraged the monks to the apostolate and liturgical studies, contributed to this. The abbey emphasized the beautiful celebration of the liturgy to which the monks prepared liturgical conferences. The liturgical formation included clergy, academic circles, youth and lay Catholics. Scientific research on the history and theology of the liturgy was conducted there. A special achievement was the mystery theology developed by O. Casel. The abbey also carried out liturgical experiments, which became the basis of post-conciliar liturgical reform. The abbey also ran publishing. The most important publications are the journal “Jahrbuch für Liturgiewissenschaft” and the publishing series Ecclesia orans.

Kolekta o św. Katarzynie „Deus qui dedisti legem Moysi”. Źródła, struktura, przemiany
Grajewski, Czesław (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
The prayer (collection) „Deus qui dedisti legem Moysi…” is an interesting phenomenon in offices of St. Catherine of Alexandria. There is no one universal version of this prayer (like there is, for example, “Pater noster”). The author of this article divided the text of the collection into eleven elements (phrases). Almost all phrases can be shaped differently. Some of them are characteristic – they may indicate the provenance of a liturgical book.

Kosmecka, Agnieszka (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2020)
This paper outlines the necessity of high-level music education in American Catholic Seminaries. It means the practice and cultivation of valuable music such as Gregorian chant or polyphonic choral masterpieces. The attentiveness to the “quality music” is future-oriented. The musical awareness of the priests will help to prevent the liturgy from triviality of pop culture, fully present in the American mindset. The purpose of American culture is permanent modernity which is a complete opposite of the tradition of Catholic Church. Conclusions presented in this article are the results of long-standing observation and research of how the Catholic liturgy intertwines with American pop culture.
