Pozycja Z historii badań nad rodzicami dzieci z niepełnosprawnościąKaniok, Przemysław Eugeniusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2012)This article discusses selected scientific theories regarding the adaptation of parents of children with disabilities to crisis situations. Most of the cited theories originate from the ABCX Model invented by Reuben Hill in 1949. One of the article’s conclusions is that there is no universal theory which fully explains the process of parents’ adaptation to having a child with a disability. Moreover, the author recommends that future research focus on variables which mediate and moderate the association between a child’s disability and his or her parents’ adjustment and adaptation to crisis.
