Pozycja Dostoevsky Overcomes Nihilism: Luigi Pareyson Reads “The Brothers Karamazov”Blanco-Sarto, Pablo (Papieski Wydział Teologiczny we Wrocławiu, 2021)“Dostoevsky’s novels are pure philosophy,” declared Luigi Pareyson (1918–1991), an Italian existentialist. He presents a Christian Dostoevsky capable of overcoming the nihilistic onslaught of a post-Christian culture, both in its harshest and “weaker” and postmodern versions. Nietzsche finds a good antagonist in Dostoevsky, who, being earlier in time, will be able to overcome Nihilism. Before being a Christian, the Russian novelist had already descended into hell out of nowhere, in his exile in Siberia. He survived this ordeal − which inevitably led him to nowhere − and paradoxically found Jesus Christ. That is why his novels and his ideas can offer a shelter at this turn of the millennium?Pozycja El inicio del camino. Fe, bautismo y pertenencia a la Iglesia en el pensamiento de Joseph RatzingerBlanco-Sarto, Pablo (Papieski Wydział Teologiczny we Wrocławiu, 2020)Through baptism the new Christian is born of water and immersed in the resurrection of Christ. This paper addresses, firstly, the liturgical dimension of the act of faith, according to the studies of the Bavarian theologian. This reviving immersion influences all the dimensions of the person: from the cognitive to the ethical, without forgetting the relational and emotional ones. After this, the social and communitarian dimension of the act of faith is emphasized, which introduces us into a believing and saving community. Finally, the author reminds us of the effects, such as the light and joy that the believer experiences after becoming aware of the baptism received. Being the common patrimony of all Christians, the first of the sacraments constitutes a good bridge and starting point for ecumenical dialogue, as the Second Vatican Council recalls (cf. UR 22).Pozycja El sacerdocio común en Luteranos y CatólicosBlanco-Sarto, Pablo (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2022)Luther insisted on the royal, common or universal priesthood of all the baptised, as the Second Vatican Council also recalled, referring to the mutual complementarity between the common and ministerial priesthood, which however differ non tantum gradu sed essentiam (cf. LG 10). These pages review the main points on the common priesthood, according to Luther’s proposal and the response of the Councils of Trent and Vatican II and, as a complementary counterpoint, add the teachings of a 20th century Catholic author, Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, partly before and partly after Vatican II, which could be of interest for understanding the subject under discussion. The similarities and differences are thus noted here, which are conducive to the subsequent ecumenical dialogue on this subject, which is acquiring particular importance in the context of the theology of synodality.Pozycja Hans Urs von Balthasar, un testigo ausente del concilio Vaticano IIBlanco-Sarto, Pablo (Papieski Wydział Teologiczny we Wrocławiu, 2024)The article presents Hans Urs von Balthasar’s theological ideas on Vatican II. The Swiss theologian was an attentive spectator of the council, even though he was not physically present at the ecclesial event. His ecumenical interventions were made before, during and after the Council, as is presented in the following parts of the article. First of all, a common theme with Vatican II is the attention to Scripture and how he integrates his patristic knowledge into this interpretative framework. Secondly, the Swiss theologian proposed an incarnationist vision of earthly realities and insisted on the missionary dimension of the Church, as well as the importance of the laity and the centrality of the constitution Lumen Gentium among the texts of Vatican II. Finally, in addition to a common Christocentrism, Balthasar appreciates in the conciliar texts important advances with regard to Mariology and religious freedom.Pozycja The Common Priesthood in Lutherans and CatholicsBlanco-Sarto, Pablo (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2022)Luther insisted on the royal, common or universal priesthood of all the baptised, as the Second Vatican Council also recalled, referring to the mutual complementarity between the common and ministerial priesthood, which, however, differ non tantum gradu sed essentiam (cf. While rejecting an unpersonal and essentialist scholasticism, he recognizes the authority of Aquinas – seen through an “Augustinian Thomism” – in anthropology, the doctrine of grace and creation, as well as in the nature of the act of faith and the method of theology. The German theologian tries to make the ontological perspective compatible with the historical-salvific perspective, the personalist perspective with the metaphysical point of view. In the synthesis between faith and reason, philosophy and theology, Ratzinger finds in Aquinas a good model, which is based not only on the order of grace but also on the order of creation.
