    Biblijna wiara w Boga
    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2021)
Joseph Ratzinger in his article shows the biblical faith in God. The author emphasizes that whoever wants to understand the faith in God contained in the Bible has to follow its historical development, starting from the patriarchs of Israel until the last writings of the New Testament. The Old Testament, from which it starts, shows the leading idea of the research of the German theologian, who following the teaching of the Old Testament spoke about the Creator basically in two names: Elohim and Yahweh. These two main names for God express the separation and choice that Israel made in the religious world of the time, and at the same time show that what he stood for through that choice, what was chosen, it positively supported. Ratzinger shows that there are always two elements in the biblical concept of God. On the one hand, personality, closeness, the possibility of calling him, personal help, everything that is condensed in giving Him a name has already been predicted in the thought of „God of the fathers, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob”, and later will be focused in the thought of „God of Jesus Christ” It is always about the God of people, a God with a face, a personal God; the choice and decisions of the fathers’ faith were directed towards him, and from Him leads a long but straight path to God Jesus Christ.

Chleba naszego powszedniego daj nam dzisiaj
    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2017)
The purpose of this article was to present the theology of the fourth request of the Lord’s Prayer. The fourth prayer, Our Father, seems to us the most „human” of all requests. The Lord, who directs our views on that, what is essential, on „the only necessary”, knows about our earthly needs and recognizes them. He, who tells his disciples, „do not worry about your life, what you will eat” (Matthew 6,25), invites us to pray for food for us and to entrust our concerns to God in this way. Bread is „fruit of the earth and work of human hands”, but the earth will not bear fruit if it does not receive the sun and rain coming from above. This interaction of cosmic forces, which is not in our hands, is opposed to the temptation of our pride to provide ourselves with our own strength. This pride is brutal and cold, and ultimately destroys the earth. It cannot be otherwise, because it defies the truth, according to which we humans are to transgress ourselves only by opening ourselves to God; only under this condition we can become great and free and actually be ourselves. We can and should ask.

    Eschatologia i utopia
    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2019)
For Joseph Ratzinger, the reference to truth and intellect as Logos is crucial to understanding the issue of faith. Intellect is expanded by faith so that it goes beyond the narrow framework of empiricism. Rationality protects the faith against the dangerous expectation that historical problems will resolve themselves in eschaton or in the 1000-year-old kingdom of the „messiah” pulled to the ground by specific political measures. The author pointed out that many people oppose utopia and eschatology. There is a danger that one can understand a utopia as a rational construction of an optimal community institution, enabling a happy life that is kept as a critical mirror for existing irregularities, and treat eschatology as the end of all difficulties of the world’s end. But then we receive extreme opposition. Ratzinger suggests recognizing that eschatology is an application of the Greek search for logos and a desire for understanding (philosophy) of whole of the world to the revealed Christian faith. Then the concepts of „utopia” and „eschatology” complement one another. For the retired Pope, eschatology is a message of faith: on the basis of the confession of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, it will herald of the resurrection of the dead, eternal life and the kingdom of God. The future is the Christ and His glorious resurrection, reminds Ratzinger in the face of many earthly utopias.

    Kościół a skandal wykorzystywania seksualnego
    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2021)
In the extensive text of „The Church and the Sexual Abuse Scandal”, written after the Vatican’s February summit on the protection of minors convened by Francis, Benedict XVI assessed that the „breakdown” of morals following the Sexual Revolution of 1968, marked by „unprecedented radicalism” and also the process of weakening the „Christian concept of morality” are fundamental of abuses among the clergy. „Yes, there is sin and evil in the Church. But also today there is a holy Church that is indestructible. Also today, there are many people who humbly believe, suffer and love, in whom the true God appears to us, a loving God”, wrote Pope emeritus Benedict XVI.

Kościół świętych – Kościół grzeszników. Krytyka Kościoła?
    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2019)

    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2020)
The purpose of Pope Benedict XVI’s article is to show the essence of the priesthood. The author notes that the Catholic image of the priesthood, defined by the Council of Trent, and biblically renewed and deepened by the Second Vatican Council, fell into a deep crisis after the Council. The author shows the establishment of an office by Christ, discusses the apostolic succession, the universal and official priesthood, and draws conclusions for contemporary priests. The teachings of Benedict XVI show him as a very realistic, sensitive shepherd and a man of hope. Throughout his life, the Pope meets priests, allows them to speak, and does not avoid difficult topics. In the face of the problems of the Church, the world and specific people, including those who are called, he emphasizes humble trust in Christ and proclaims the primacy of grace, because priestly vocations and the cause they serve are the work and cause of Christ.

    Prawo naturalne: Ewangelia i ideologia
    Ratzinger, Joseph (Wydawnictwo Pallottinum, 2020)
The article discusses the position of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, continued by Pope Benedict XVI, on the sources and essence of natural law in a view of currently in force, dominant positivist approach to the legislative order. Pope Benedict XVI answers the following questions: upon what internal authority the catholic teaching can be based? Where does the spiritual content of this doctrine on natural law come from? What sources is it actually derived from? The intellectual debate on the sources and the essence of law known from the times of Greek antiquity, enriched with the achievements of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, gained a special resonance during the 17th century period of prosperity of the so-called nature law school. The Pope recognizes the source of universally binding law as a rational and free-will human nature, open to its divine origin. Only such a morally conditioned human existence guarantees that human dignity and subjective rights are treated as inalienable and unquestionable against the claims of other individuals, as well as the socio-political communities established by them.
