Pozycja Children, Adolescents, and the Media, Eds. Victor C. Strasburger, Barbara J. Wilson, Amy B. Jordan, Los Angeles–London–New Delhi–Singapore: SAGE Publications 2009, ss. 615.Jęczeń, Jarosław (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)Pozycja Funkcjonowanie systemu rodzinnego a obraz siebie u studentów – dorosłych dzieci alkoholików (DDA)Chuchra, Maria; Śpila, Bożena (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)This study seeks to answer the following questions: what are the traits of a family system that are combined with the self-image that alcoholics’ children have, or whether sex is a differentiating variable. The main hypothesis assumes that there is a relationship between the functioning of a family and DDA students. 32 students (13 women and 17 men) have been examined, all of them participants of psychotherapy by means of D. Beckmann’s and H.E. Richter’s Giessen Test (GT) and Z. Gasia’s Family Profile (Pol. PR). The findings have shown the following: the more adaptive is a family system, the more mutual understanding and sense of functionality there is and the greater is the sense of social resonant in students. The more cohesive is the family, the more emotional openness and stability there are in men. The greater is family adaptation, the greater are the sense of social resonant and social opportunities in men. The greater is the mutual understanding and sense of family functionality, the greater is the sense of social resonant in men. The greater is the disorganisation of the family, the lesser is the sense of social resonant and social opportunities in men. In the case of women no correlation between the functioning of the family and selfimage was found.Pozycja Instytucjonalne wsparcie rodziny z osobą niepełnosprawnąJanocha, Witold (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)The issue of disability should be considered in the context of the family, for it is the family that accompanies the disabled person from the very beginning. It becomes his or her best and surest support, in the economic, psychological, and spiritual dimensions. Concentration, however, on the individual that is most in need causes the whole family system to fail its function with time. Limitations that result from the fact of disability are real threats that the family may become marginalised or even eliminated from social life. The family is not able to overcome crisis on its own, thus supportive institutions and organisations play an essential role. The State Rehabilitation Fund for the Disabled (Pol. PFRON), urban and rural social work centres are leading institutions in supporting families with the disabled persons. In order to obtain aid from PFRON, however, one should be resourceful, well-educated, and well-off. Now social support centres concentrate only on those families that are the poorest, uneducated, and live in villages and small towns. It follows from research that families are considerably supported by institutions, although they only to a small degress satisfy the needs of the families under study.Pozycja Międzynarodowa konferencja naukowa: „Wybrane aspekty pracy socjalnej w warsztacie pracownika socjalnego – doświadczenia polsko-niemieckie”. The role of meaning of the father in a family system is also one of the basic aspects of the studies on the family. This publication if an evidence of that interest. It consists of two principal parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part discusses the problems of the biblical and theological understanding of fatherhood as well as the contemporary issues of fatherhood. The second part presents a strategy of research and an quantitative analysis of the findings. The studies use the method of psychological questionnaire. Their goal was to examine the role of the father in a family system. Particular questions dealt with the following issues: religiousness that secondary school graduates declared, interpersonal relations with fathers, assessment of the father’s personality (positive and negative), an image of the ideal father, father’s participation in the process of upbringing, father’s influence on his children’s religious formation, father-mother relationship, children’s respect towards their father, and an image of the father inherited in childhood. The whole of the study has been crowned with a summary, conclusions, and bibliography. It is worth adding that the studies provided a complete answer to the questions in the questionnaire. They showed an image of the father in the contemporary Polish family according to secondary school leavers. The studies’ value resides also in this that they covered a very numerous group (867 persons).Pozycja Zasada sprawiedliwości społecznej w promowaniu inicjatyw obywatelskich w ruchu hospicyjnym w opinii członków rodzin podopiecznych hospicjumKalinowski, Mirosław (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2010)This paper addresses the issue of social justice in promoting civic initiatives as instanced by hospice fellowships in the opinion of patients’ families. The principle of justice decides about the shape of social order, therefore it is strictly connected with state activity with regard to law-making and public institutions. The hospice movement is anchored in local communities; it takes responsibility to help the dying to live a dignified life of the human person. Now the state’s task, of whichwe speak in the first part of the paper, is to provide such conditions that civic fellowships could take and develop palliative support. The second part of the study presents some opinions of the patients’ families with regard to civic initiatives. The analysis has shown that most of the closest relatives of the terminaly ill treat the fellowships that help the dying as an effect of social initiatives. Any activities that make up multidimensional support, voluntary activity, and various organisational forms of supportive centres have been defined as the most important manifestation of civily liberty.
