Pozycja „Argumentum ex prophetia” u ojców Kościoła a współczesna krytyka funkcji proroctwa w apologetyce. OrygenesSwitek, Mateusz (Uniwersytet Papieski Jana Pawła II w Krakowie. Wydział Teologiczny Sekcja w Tarnowie, 2023)The paper is a continuation of the earlier text on Justin the Martyr and presents the same issue of the apologetic argument from the fulfilment of Messianic prophecies in another author of the period, Origen. A review of the basic themes, methods of argumentation and philosophical background of the prophetic proof helps to highlight the theological fertility of the issue and its subtlety. The history shows multiplicity of possible defences of Christianity based on the question of prophecy. “Contra Celsum” proves the vitality of the topic in the discussion with the pagans, as well as the change of emphasis compared to the early discussions against the Jews. Observations on the Church Fathers allow some remarks concerning contemporary presentations of the argument from the prophecies and point to potential proximity to modern conceptions of credibility in the fundamental theology.
