Duszpasterska troska Kościoła opolskiego o mniejszości narodowe i etniczne. Geneza – rozwój – znaczenie
Worbs, Marcin (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)
The pastoral care of the Opole Church for national and ethnic minorities, which demands a considerable amount of sensitivity and prudence, is a particular expression of its respect for the freedom and dignity of every human being. In its concern for the harmonious coexistence of people from different cultures on the basis of reconciled diversity, the Church seeks to serve all the inhabitants of the region of Silesia in the spirit of the Gospel and strives to create an appropriate climate in society for the acceptance of national and ethnic minorities. The numerous experiences of the Church in Opole with regard to minorities are certainly worth reflecting upon and presenting, especially since minority issues often provoke a lot of emotion and generally find little understanding among outsiders. The first part of the article reviews the historical and social circumstances of the organisation of pastoral care for national and ethnic minorities in the Diocese of Opole, primarily for the German minority. Furthermore, the process of establishing rules in this area and their implementation in life is presented. Whereas in the last section the activities of the minority pastoral care are summarised, taking into account its role in the life of the Church and the entire region.

The Homily for the Ritual Mass of the Ordination to the Presbyterate in the Perspective of the Requirement of Liturgical Discourse
Petka, Michał (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)
The article focuses on presenting a unique situation occurring in liturgical discourse when it comes to the ritual homily contained in the books of the Roman Pontifical. Its novelty is that the homily, which is normally a “derivative” text, in this case is also considered a “canonical” text. A homily from the ordination rites of a presbyter was chosen as an example of such a situation. The texts of both the pre- Vaticanum II’s Pontificale Romanum and the book after the reforms of Paul VI are presented, which is justified by the continuous use of both books, as well as by marking the changes that occurred during the liturgical renewal. The article in the first part presents the features of the ritual homily and the role of the bishop in its proclamation. The second part describes the phenomenon of liturgical discourse and the Roman Pontifical, followed by an analysis and evaluation of the texts of ritual homilies contained in both ordination rituals.

Thematic Homilies: A Study of Preaching at Saint Benedict Parish, Halifax (Canada)
Lipiński, Łukasz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)
The aim of the study is to evaluate the thematic programming of the preaching handbook, “Preaching on Purpose: A Divine Renovation Handbook for Communicating the Gospel Today” (2022), co-written by priests from Saint Benedict Parish, Halifax (Canada). I assess the consonance of the homiletic concept employed in the handbook with the Church’s Magisterium on homiletics and how it could be of help to homily programming. The first part presents the Church’s post-conciliar reflections on thematic homilies in five points. Then, the theory of homily programming, as described in the handbook, and a sample preaching series are discussed. Finally, the series is discussed in relation to the Church’s vision of the homily. The conclusions reveal that while the Halifax thematic homilies interfere with liturgy due to the lack of mystagogy, excessive and elaborate slideshows, and moral calls without catechesis, homily programming suggestions remain useful for homilists because the preachers correctly deliver the kerygma and existential actualization, plan series methodically, and co-operate with the lay faithful.

    Zasada ekonomiczności w tekście homilii
Klementowicz, Michał (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)
The field of text linguistics has given considerable attention to what is sometimes called the principle of the economy of utterance. This a principle which is aimed at optimizing linguistic communication: it attempts to preserve the semantics of a message while minimizing the effort needed for content reception. This principle is particularly relevant to the category of applied texts, in which category, of course, the homily falls. In the present work, we employ the principle in the discipline of homiletics through the following steps. We start by critically analyzing the homily in the light of information theory, which will give insight into the homily's content. This enables us to move toward practical solutions. We then utilize insights from logic by taking up legitimate issues in the text and making their premises credible.

Spójność homilii a Misterium Paschalne. Analiza na podstawie wybranych tekstów przepowiadania Stanisława Czerwika
Janaszczyk, Piotr Aleksander (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)
Achieving coherence in the communication is one of the key qualities of the homily. The creation of such an utterance requires a lot of efforts, including the use of a compositional principle that is as solid as possible. Such a criterion has managed to be indicated in the preaching of Stanisław Czerwik. The author not only built a recognisable construction in the form of the socalled ‘paschal principle’, but nevertheless maintained theological correctness in the ministry of the word. The article presents the results of an analysis conducted on 1,043 texts of published and unpublished homilies. In the first part, the paschal principle will be present in Cherwik’s homilies. In the second part, it will be analysed from the perspective of building the coherence of the speech.
