Pozycja „Was der Geist zu den gemeinden Sagt!” (Offb 2,29). Auf der Suche nach dem optimalen synodalen Weg der katholischen WeltkircheZulehner, Paul M. (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2022)The background to the study is the Synod of Bishops convened by Pope Francis on the synodality of the Church. The Pope has expressed the desire that the Church in general should become synodal and inclusive, that is, that it should listen to the voice of the whole people of God and involve the faithful in its mission. The main problem of this study, then, can be expressed in the question: How can the synodal process, planned for the next two years, be guided in such a way that it is optimal for the renewal of the universal Church? Answering this question required, on the one hand, an analysis of Pope Francis’ teaching and, on the other, an analysis of the current state of the Church in the context of today’s challenges. From the combination of these two premises, it was possible to draw several pastoral conclusions, the most important of which are: the involvement of lay people in the decisionmaking processes in the Church, the appreciation of women in the Church, and the adoption in the life of the Church of some democratic procedures that have proven themselves in the Western world for several centuries.Pozycja Bp Andrzej F. Historically, Americans have viewed secularism as a means to protect freedom of religion for its citizenry from a state imposed religion or, conversely, state imposed agnosticism. The American Catholic Church in the 21st century respects the separation of Church and State because it upholds the principle of religious freedom. Contemporary aggressive secularism becomes a challenge for the Church as it increasingly hinders the realization of her mission in the world. Secularism is also a challenge for pastoral theology, whose task is to create models of pastoral activity adapted to the conditions of a specific place and time. Thus, the problem of this study can be expressed in the following question: what is the perception of secularism in the United States, what challenges does it present for the Catholic Church in the 21st Century and how is the Church to fulfill her mission in American society? The answer will be established through analysis of universal Church documents, presentation of the teaching of the Church in the United States and review of the publications of American theologians and sociologists. This article reviews the historical, cultural and ecclesiastical understanding of secularism in the United States as an ideology, and compares it to the modern understanding of secularism as it pertains to the organization of American society. Furthermore, it evaluates the impact of secularism as ideology and overarching societal organization on the modern American Catholic Church, the Church’s role and impact in American society and the Church’s vital and moral need to maintain its relevance through evangelization and ongoing participation in social justice issues in American society despite its minority status and the impact of recent scandals. Pozycja The Theandric Role of the Church in the Life of the World During, Before and After Covid−19 PandemicOmollo, Frederick (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2022)The “earthly” Church is on pilgrimage and has the task of making disciples of all peoples (cf. Mt 28:19−20). She has her transcendental dignity, proportional to its representative (sacramental) essence and function as the universal sacrament of salvation. In the Christological perspective, the “earthly” Church carries out the redemptive and salvific work of Christ. On the part of the Church, this saving work is still relevant, polymorphic and incomplete, and sometimes also tainted by sin. For the Church is not identical with the Kingdom of God. Therefore, the current question remains how to realize the theandric nature of the Church in her mission in the current historical, social and cultural context? A particular drama in the implementation of the Church’s mission is added today by the situation of the Covid−19 pandemic, which on the one hand contributes to hindering the exercise of a particularly liturgical function and, on the other hand, intensifies the process of impoverishment of people in many countries of the world. The new poor become an additional challenge for the Church in her charitable mission. The article has a dogmatic-pastoral character, and its main sources are post-conciliar documents and the latest statements of Pope Francis. According to the author, the Church, as a community of Christ’s disciples, must learn from her Master to build interpersonal relationships in search of harmony with the world and at the service of humanity. Remembering the theandric nature of the Church can be very helpful in this task.Pozycja Marek Fiałkowski OFMconv, Ks. Robert Sadlak, Młodzi w Kościele. I used the ethnolinguistic method to investigate this phenomenon. The text particularly takes into account changes in attitudes and emotions towards death throughout the various periods of history, ranging from antiquity to modernity. Next, the method of presenting death in the Bible, as well as the teachings preached by the Church Fathers was presented to finally verify the current views with what young people attending primary school think about it – how they define death or are afraid of death. The students’ task was to answer questions about death in a broad sense. The next questions concerned the physical symptoms of death, the accompanying emotions, and the causes of death. Respondents also had to answer the questions whether people are afraid of it and the question concerning the feelings it evokes.Pozycja Anointing With the Holy Oil of St. Sharbel – a New Phenomenon in Catholic PracticeKrupa, Józef (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2022)In recent years, especially in eastern Slovakia, a new phenomenon has emerged in Catholic practice – anointing with the Holy Oil of St. Sharbel. Although the rite of such anointing is not found in any liturgical book, some Catholic priests of the Latin rite, especially in this part of the country, confer it to the Catholics of their rite. Catholics from various parts of Slovakia, western Poland, Ukraine, Moravia and others also take part in it. The author of the article mainly uses the comparative method, comparing this practice with the documents of the Magisterium and the bishop guidelines. He tries to find out if it is a sacramental in the Maronite church. If so, he states that the priests of the Latin rite cannot confer sacramental of the Maronite church without permission. The aim of the article is to find an answer to the question of whether it is a sacramental within the Catholic Church of the Latin rite or a rite that belongs to the field of human faith, such as immersion in the Lourdes water, during which several miraculous healings have taken place, but which is not accompanied by any assistance by a priest or deacon.
