It raises believers to a higher personal level of existence. It enables each man to overcome difficulties and crises as well as it motivates for good and heroic actions. The faith organizes life around values, opens people to their neighbor’s world and history. While studying the teachings of Pope Saint John Paul II, we discover that the problem of faith occupies a central place in it. The hundredth anniversary of the birth of the Polish Pope became an inspiration for the author of this publication to reach for the teaching of this Saint Pope. In the present publication there will be shown selected issues helping to understand the richness of the Christian faith in a believer’s living. While presenting the reality of faith the accent will firstly be put on the concept and content of Christian faith, then the author will show the selected characteristic features of the faith in the view of Saint John Paul II as well as the main threats and difficulties of faith, encountered by modern man in its acceptance and formation.Pozycja Fundacja „Dzieło Nowego Tysiąclecia” jako odpowiedź na wyzwania wobec wychowawczej i charytatywnej posługi KościołaSkórnicka, Paulina (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)The Second Vatican Council drew attention to the mission of seculars in the church and in the world. The effect of decisions made on the Council was enhancement of the importance of laity, especially young people. At the end of 20th century the church detected the need of taking care of young generation, which appropriately shaped would make a contribution to change the social structures to build up a civilization of love. As a result, the Foundation “Opus of the New Millennium” was established. One of the main goals of this organization is to help gifted youth coming from poor families and living in small villages. The scholarship program include financial support as well as Christian formation of scholars in the vein of teachings of John Paul II. Charges of foundation, being grateful for received help, take different actions which are the fruit of formation and also confirmation of building the “living memorial of the Pope”. One of the ways of pastoral conversion is to take five steps that symbolize the first five letters of the alphabet – A, B, C, D, E. To become an authentic evangelizer, one should adore God first, pray, then be a brother and sister to people, try to practice Christian Caritas and feel the disciple of Jesus. Only when these steps are taken will a believer, by God’s Grace, become a true evangelizer.Pozycja Inspiracje adhortacji apostolskiej „Querida Amazonia” dla duszpasterstwa w PolsceLipiec, Dariusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)Apostolic exhortation Querida Amazonia is a rapport of the assembly of the Synod of bishops called: The Amazon: New Paths for the Church and for an Integral Ecology. The indications of Pope Francis enumerated in the exhortation are universal and, therefore, they can also refer to other local Churches. They can also be used by the Polish priests. The article presents the possible ways of using some of the Pope’s indications in the Polish Church. The first part of the article is a debate on the necessity for evangelization. The arguments which are used by Pope Francis to indicate the need to continue and develop spreading of the Gospel are a current issue also in Poland. It is necessary, as it is stated in part 2 of the article, to use inculturation in its various aspects. Although the inculturation in the evangelization of the people who live in the Amazon basin is different than the evangelization of the Polish society, it is still indispensable for the efficiency of the pastoral ministry. The third part of the article is devoted to the problems connected with building active Christian communities. The process, both in Poland and in Amazonia, encounters similar problems, therefore, the solutions given by Pope Francis may also prove useful for the Polish pastoral care.Pozycja Duszpasterskie towarzyszenie małżonkom w odpowiedzialnym rodzicielstwieCzerwonka, Grzegorz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)Pastoral accompaniment of spouses in responsible parenthood is one of the important tasks of this salvific activity of the Church. Spouses invited by God to pursue their parental vocation await the support of pastors. This support is realized by priests through the preaching of the word of God, parish family counseling, the ministry of spiritual direction and prayer support, or in the process of pedagogy. Surveys among presbyters have shown that a high percentage of priests declare their willingness to accompany their spouses in the work of responsible parenthood. More often than not, priests from the age of 36 years of age, who have more experience in ministering to married couples, consider it this way. The challenge of pastoral support for spouses in responsible parenthood is faced by younger priests up to 35 years of age.Pozycja Relacja osobowa narzędziem duszpasterstwa młodzieży na podstawie adhortacji apostolskiej „Christus vivit” papieża FranciszkaChrupek, Tomasz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)Nowadays, a great challenge for the Church is the concern about the youth pastoral care. This urgent matter was also noticed by Pope Francis in the Apostolic Exhortation Christus vivit. According to this document, it is possible to create a particular pastoral strategy to work with young people. In accordance with the Pope’s opinion, this concern about young people should be expressed in deep, personal relationships that are built on a true authority. A very significant factor in the process of Christian formation is the role of an appropriate leader and community, which creates an environment of faith that leads to a meeting with God. Man is a relational being. Therefore, thanks to relationship with other people, one can lead others to meet the Lord. Caring for the youth is not reserved only for individuals, but also for all environments that have an impact on young people. It is only the commitment of everyone that will help to construct pastoral and effective youth ministry.Pozycja Duszpasterstwo wobec błogosławieństwa zwierzątBrusiło, Jerzy (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)Animals, while accompanying humans in ages, have always performed various functions: from escorting and taking care of them, through nourishment and supplying materials, to religious reasons. In christianity animals were and are a part of the Creation, for which human is thankful to the Creator. They also appear as saints’ attributes, however they are no longer worshiped. Same as the whole world, both animate and inanimate, animals can be blessed to serve humans better on the path to eternal life. The interesting example of the blessing ritual of animals cited in the article is solemn indulgence of St. Roch from Montpellier in Mikstat. Animals are blessed there, but it is not the core of the ceremonial, which is mostly a celebration of the Word and administration of the sacraments, which serves admiration of God and is leading people to salvation. Nowadays, the needs and rights of animals are often raised on a par with humans, which is reflected in attempts to organize funerals, holy masses and other sacraments for animals. This undoubtedly raises serious challenges for theology and pastoral ministry.Pozycja Ksiądz Franciszek Blachnicki – prekursor teologii kerygmatycznej w PolsceBiela, Bogdan (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)Pope Francis said, “Theology after Veritatis Gaudium is a kerygmatic theology, a theology of discernment, of mercy and of welcoming, in dialogue with society, cultures and religions for the construction of the peaceful coexistence of individuals and peoples” (21.06.2019). In this context, a forerunner of kerygmatic theology in Poland, Father Franciszek Blachnicki (1921-1987), seems to be a person to focus on. As a theoretician, he came up with foundations of fundamental catechesis, in which he emphasised the fact that contemporary forms of catechumenate do not fit the requirements of the contemporary times. Blachnicki knew that the central pastoral issue of the Church is loss of the environment of living faith and love that may welcome new generations of Christians. The existing system of catechesis for children and youth is understood as a school subject to be taught purely on an intellectual level is not able to meet the tasks of catechumenate, since it is not an educational system that introduces Christian life in the community of the Church. In view of the above, Blachnicki was convinced that an additional catechumenate for the baptised was necessary – both for adults, youth and children. This complementary catechumenate should use the guidelines offered by the post-conciliar teaching of the Church, especially the one offered in the document on Christian initiation of adults. As the result of this, in the sixties of the last century, Father Blachnicki used the scheme of “Oasis” retreat to found the Living Church Movement, later known as the Light-Life Movement. Within the framework of deuterocatechumenal formation, he showed a specific way of implementing postulates, resulting directly from the achievements of kerygmatic theology and offered a “catechumenate-oriented” concept of pastoral care able to renew the contemporary parish that is a community of communities.Pozycja Pour un processus catéchétique sans cesse (néo-)catéchuménal: un engendrement à tout âgeAmherdt, François-Xavier (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)How can we deal with the double dimension of Christian initiation, which is both ended when it is “completed” and open to the future of Christian existence? In our postmodern era of fluidity and blurring of the ages of life, catechetical pastoral care is invited to transform itself by offering multiple entry doors for the preparation of the sacraments, since we can be baptized and receive the sacrament of confirmation at any age. This transformation is accomplished by making each sacramental journey and the whole of existence an unceasingly (neo-)catechumenal journey where the first-second kerygmatic announcement is each time repeated and deepened. It is so, because, according to an eschatological aim, the possible moments of spiritual maturity are numerous in life and the pedagogy of permanent initiation leads to a maturation never fully accomplished.Pozycja Dariusz Adamczyk.
