Pozycja O macierzyństwie kobiet pełniących zawodową służbę wojskową (na przykładzie Polskich Sił Zbrojnych)Judzińska, Aneta (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Background: For about twenty years, Polish women have been able to access military service full-time. It means that they can, like men, participate in career development perceived in terms of promotion to a higher military position/rank. On the other hand, there is no doubt that the military remains a typically male professional space. Thus, it requires women to go beyond the traditionally understood division of social roles or – in the case of married women – to combine them skillfully. Objectives: The article aims to present the specificity of the functioning of women on the path of a professional military career from the perspective of family and professional dilemmas. Particular attention will be paid to the category of motherhood. Methodology: This article is an overview. The author mentions the research results on women in the military space available in the literature, including her research. Due to the small amount of research, as a supplement, the author also analyzes Internet sources – more specifically, press interviews with female soldiers. Conclusions: The nature of the difficulties between military service and family indicates the need for regular monitoring of women’s participation in the military space. The cited studies indicate that balancing the maternal role with the professional role of a soldier is complex and depends both on non-professional factors (relations with the husband, including the divisions of roles in the family) and organizational ones. The latter results from the specificity of the service (the requirement of mobility and availability) and the attitudes of superiors. For some women, it turns out that motherhood becomes an object of exclusion and stereotyping on the part of soldiers. There is also a lack of institutional (belonging to the military) forms of childcare. In selected cases, motherhood itself triggers the process of self-exclusion from the career in favor of fulfilling the role of a mother.Pozycja Pandemia jako czynnik zmiany społecznej. Rodzina a rynek pracy i edukacjaKampka, Franciszek (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)The context of the research conducted was the family’s situation in the face of social changes related to the C0VID-19 pandemic. The study aimed to find out what challenges families face today with labour market transformations and educational changes. The methods adopted were a literature review and an analysis of found data. The results confirm that the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted or intensified many problems. The first is losing a job or financial stability, resulting in pauperisation, loss of empowerment and identity crisis. The second set of issues involves isolation, working and educating remotely, and balancing family life with work and school online. Third, personal effects include conflict, violence and mental deterioration. Finally, the global impact is, above all, a widening of social inequalities. The conclusions from the analysis results are the need to look for solutions that ensure work and fair pay. Among the proposals discussed are the ecological perspective adopted by Pope Francis, the concept of basic income (discussed, among others, in the works of Guy Standing) and new goals of education indicated by UNESCO.Pozycja Parental addiction, conflicts and marital disruption: perception of adult children of divorced parentsRijavec Klobučar, Nataša (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Divorce is a stressful event often combined with spouse conflict which significantly affects the way children experience the consequences of family reorganization. Various factors contribute to the impact of divorce on child development, one of the most decisive being the quality of parental relationship prior to, during and after divorce. The article addresses one main question how spouses’ conflict during the process of divorce is intertwined with a child’s experience. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 adult children (7 men and 13 women) from divorced families. Adults ranged in age 21 to 42 years old. Five to twenty years passed from their parents’ divorce. The results show that in the cases of violent parents’ relationships or family relationships with addiction prior to divorce, the participants experienced relief when the nuclear family dissolved; however, in most cases conflict between parents persisted after divorce, the child being tom between both parents. When the conflict between the parents is combined with various addictions, the consequences for the child are even more devastating. In most cases, children were left to themselves. The findings of this study can therefore contribute to creating various forms of educational, consulting, or therapeutic help.Pozycja Wybór między rodziną a pracą zawodową. Doświadczanie i rozwiązywanie konfliktu wewnętrznegoMudrecka, Irena Małgorzata (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Background – It is more and more difficult for modern man to reconcile assigned social roles, especially the role of a parent and the role of an employee. Family and work are one of the most important values, the implementation of which gives life meaning. However, there are times when these values conflict because they cannot be implemented simultaneously. Goals – The aim of this article is to identify the causes of the conflict between the above values, the possibilities of solving it, as well as discussing strategies of preventing such difficult situations from arising. Methodology – The article is of a review character, focuses on the description and analysis of the literature on the subject. Results – In this article, the following issues were analysed in detail: the sense of marriage community, communication in marriage, setting priorities, mobilizing internal resources, mobilizing external resources, and the postulate of flexibility in solving emerging problems was highlighted. Conclusions – A responsible adult is required to be able to cope with difficult situations, as well as to be aware that there are many ways to achieve your own goals and flexibly react. Obstacles can be treated as challenges, and overcoming them – a source of life satisfaction.Pozycja Stateczne gniazdo. Starcia instynktów konterfekt własnyToman, Aleksandra (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)In my essay The sober nest the context of the research was the society of the second half of the XIXth century and twenty years between two world wars. The purpose of the research was to show that the political, economical and moral task of the family and the point of view in it’s matter change in the revisionist way. There was used the scientific method which was based on the popular-scientific books and the polite letters which were related to the époques described in the article. There were achieved the results which from the one side confirmed the conservative nature of the family as the reference group and the social institution and from the other side – they presented the centrifugal tendentious, especially among the representants of the younger generation. From the research man can conclude the useful, paternalistic structure of the family as an economical unit – the usable function, concentrated on inculating the obligations, through the long time dominated the emotional bonds.Pozycja Parents’ economic migration and the psychological well-being of their Polish childrenPufal-Struzik, Irena; Sordyl-Lipnicka, Barbara; Duda, Małgorzata (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Aim: The aim of the study was to analyze mental well-being, especially anxiety and a sense of loneliness of Polish children temporarily separated from their parent or parents who are migrating for economic reasons, and children who went abroad with their parents. Methods: Explicit Anxiety Scale was used to measure anxiety “Jaki Jesteś?’’ (“What are you like?” by Skrzypek and Choynowski) (textbook by Zwierzyńska, Matuszewski, 2007) and the Polish versions of the UCLA Loneliness Scale were used to measure loneliness (by Russell, Peplau, & Cutrona, adapted by Rembowski, 1992). Test results were supplemented with an interview with children. 320 children from different types of migrant families participated in the study. Results: the highest level of anxiety is felt by children temporarily separated from their mother, and children who, together with their parents, went abroad and find it difficult to adapt to the new environment. The duration of emigration was an important factor. Most children in the sample – regardless of the type of migratory family – feel lonely, do not feel strong ties with close relatives, do not feel understood by them, do not feel associated with a peer group. Conclusion: The results of the research indicate the necessity to take actions in the area of institutional and legal as well as psychological support for families and children both in the situation of going abroad and returning from migration. The most important directions of activities concerning the creation of environmental forms of separation compensation and the environmental assistance system for the migration family are indicated at the stage of prevention related to people planning trips.Pozycja Emotional intelligence and coping with stress in foster parentsRogowska, Aleksandra Maria; Zmaczyńska-Witek, Barbara; Łatka, Ilona; Kardasz, Zofia (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Although much research on emotional intelligence (EI) and coping with stress has been performed in recent years, little is known about these dimensions of individual differences between parents. The main purpose of this study was to examine emotional intelligence and coping styles in foster parents. The study included 124 individual participants aged between 30 and 64years old (M = 45.18, SD = 8.72), including foster parents (n = 63,50.81%) and biological parents (n = 61, 49.19%). The cross-sectional survey study was conducted using the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) and Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS). In comparison to biological parents, foster parents demonstrated significantly higher levels of emotional intelligence (EI), more frequently used task-oriented coping styles, and less often pursued emotional and avoidant coping strategies to deal with stress. EI was positively correlated with task-oriented coping and negatively with emotional coping. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that El was a strong predictor of task-oriented coping. Training focused on the enhancement of both EI and coping with stress should be considered as an effective way to improve parents’ competence.Pozycja Affect and psychological well-being in spouses of cancer patients: the mediating role of meaning in life and self-efficacyKrok, Dariusz; Gerymski, Rafał (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)The examination of the psychological functioning of cancer patients’spouses implies that affect and personal resources play an important role in their psychological well-being. This is a consequence of the severe stress caused by the medical conditions of a spouse and of responsibilities related to caregiving. This study aimed to examine the role of affect and purpose-oriented personal resources (meaning in life and self-efficacy) in shaping psychological well-being in the spouses of cancer patients. The participants were 214 spouses of gastrointestinal patients who were either undergoing medical treatment in hospital units or attending scheduled clinic appointments at outpatient medical clinics. The Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS-X), Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWB), Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) were used. The results indicated that positive affect was positively correlated with meaning in life, self-efficacy, and psychological well-being. In contrast, negative affect was negatively correlated with positive affect, meaning in life, self-efficacy, and psychological well-being. The mediation analyses demonstrated that meaning in life and self-efficacy were mediators between positive and negative affect and psychological well-being. The mediating function of meaning in life and self-efficacy revealed the significant role of personal resources based on purpose and self-motivation in the relationship between affect and psychological well-being. Positive and negative affect can influence motivational processes that enable patients and their families to constructively deal with challenging and illness-related situations. Caregivers and medical staff could take into account the important role of purpose-oriented resources as they affect the functioning of both patients and their families.Pozycja Dialogue and social participation in the context of education and development of youth in PolandPodkowińska, Monika; Boguszewski, Rafał; Błaszczak, Iwona (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Background: The development of civil society is based on dialogue and participation. Young people are characterized by low interest in social activity and building a civil society, therefore it seems crucial to look at what education for participation looks like. Objectives: The authors considered the issue of dialogue and social participation in the context of education and development of young Poles. The authors drew attention to the forms and importance of civic dialogue, as well as diagnosed the goals, functions and deficits of civic education. Methodology: The topic was presented on the basis of the literature on the subject, the results of sociological research and hard data on the forms and scale of civic involvement in Poland, especially in Warsaw. Data analysis was used in the form of desk research. Results: Research by CBOS and KBPN shows that only 40% of young people who could take part in the 2018 elections for the first time in their lives intended to exercise their right. Also in the parliamentary elections in 2019, the youngest eligible respondents voted least frequently. In general, young Poles show involvement in the affairs of the local community significantly less often than adults, and are also characterized by an above-average lack of trust in others and increasing individualism. Conclusions: Civic involvement of young Poles and their participation in building a civic society are low and are accompanied by a high level of individualism combined with a lack of trust in others. Therefore, a more effective education for participation seems to be of key importance. Examples of good practice in this area, although still carried out on a small scale, are classes conducted for students in the field of public communication and tools for social participation developed and used by some local governments, such as the Civic Budget or Local Initiative.Pozycja Stories of transmission and gradual resolution of trauma-related shame in three generations of Slovenian familiesKompan Erzar, Katarina; Tóth, Erzsébet Fanni (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)In this paper, we will present a study into the dynamics of the transmission of emotional traumatic in three families of victims of World War II and post-war communist oppression. This study is taken from a broader research project in which we investigated the experiences of nonclinical families that managed to survive through three generation, and in which post-traumatic growth is present, i. e. the ability to integrate traumatic experiences and provide greater security for future generations. The main focus will be on how emotional content is transmitted and transformed through generations and how to recognise it in various forms of behaviour, thinking and emotions, that appear in each of the generations. As we follow the transformation of traumatic content, we will also follow the the signs that show how traumatic content has integrated and begun to bring new, deeper emotional and mental insights. The emotional depth of the traumatic experience is what burdens the victim the most and slows down the dynamics of trauma processing. It appears in the form of symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome, insecurity and mistrust. This is found even in victims who have articulated the trauma sufficiently to rise above intimidation, managed to develop emotionally strong and connecting interpersonal relationships, maintain faith in the future, and form a coherent narrative of their traumatic past. The most interesting result of the research was that all three families, regardless of their diversity, are similar in term of processing the trauma. They were all able to speak openly about their traumatic experiences. In all three families there there was a great deal of discussion and searching for the social framework and personal truth of historical events, and the desire to present and describe the events that left such deep wounds in such a way that they would be clear, reworked and accessible to future generations as a document of the reality of some tragic and difficult times. Another source of trauma processing was religious faith, which allowed all the participants in this study to look at trauma and life more deeply, through relationships and connections between people and through a deeper understanding of human history embedded in a broader and deeper spiritual flow. Faith helped these families to find the courage to make decisions, to face life’s challenges, and to endure even the most severe of life’s trials. A third source that facilitates the processing and integration of a traumatic experience is secure interpersonal relationships and compassionate parenting. Despite the fact that the whole question of parenting was demanding and full of challenges for our interviewees, the quality of parenting has been improved from generation to generation, and sincere affection for children and gratitude for children were present everywhere. The ability to follow the new generation and its initiatives while maintaining a connection to its roots is a dynamic that characterises all three families. There is also a lot of thinking and conscious effort in establishing and maintaining good marital relationships in these families. For the recovery from trauma this study shows the importance of talking about it and also talking about it in a safe relationship until it takes a form that is genuine and at the same time clear, coherent and thus suitable for the general public. That’s when the traumatic story ceases to be traumatizing and becomes a story of courage, perseverance, and truth.Pozycja Balancing between professional and private life. Analysis of psychological determinants in family contextKornaszewska-Polak, Monika Joanna (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)The idea of reconciling work with personal life was in its heyday at the turn of the 20th century when people realised that it was impossible to completely separate these inextricably linked spheres of human existence. Neglecting either of them, and not only in the scientific discourse but also in everyday life, is in many aspects detrimental to close relationships and to the performance at work. Nevertheless, a perfect combination of these two dimensions of human activity seems almost unattainable, as a growing number of contemporary studies show. Becoming involved in one entails some negligence in the other. The family context represents a relevant example of the attempts to reach the work-life balance. It is increasingly frequent that the contemporary young adults’generation prioritise work, individual career, and personal development in their hierarchy of values. They delay their decisions on starting a family, having children, or simply settling down until they have achieved an adequate status and prosperity. Seeking to satisfy the need for close bonds, many young adults engage in only temporary relationships (cohabitation, swingers), but also create substitutes thereof. This generation succumbs to a growing sense of loneliness, despite the fulfilling careers or satisfying material and social statuses.Pozycja Reflexion über den Weg von der unerwünschten Kinderlosigkeit zur AdoptionOpatrný, Dominik; Opatrná, Katerina (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Pozycja Sigrid Müller, Piotr Jan Morciniec (red.), Sexualpädagogik. Stimuli for Further Reflection, Facultas, Wien 2021, ss. 197.Podzielny, Janusz (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Pozycja Predictors of foster father’s engagement in foster family homesKaszubska-Dziergas, Patrycja (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Research background: Foster fatherhood is undoubtedly a specific kind of fatherhood, since the man, often being a husband and father to his biological offspring, makes the decision to play the role of a foster father, the performance of which requires a high level of engagement in the realization of caring-rearing as well as compensatory activities, which – in turn – call for constant raising of the competences of working with an orphaned child. Research aim: To learn about the factors which condition the level of involvement of foster fathers in the realization of parenting activity in family-run children’s homes in both the global and partial dimensions. Research method: In the study, the method of diagnostic survey and that of assessment were applied. Obtained results: The analyses proved that the level of engagement of foster fathers in the realization of parenting activity in family-run children’s homes is to a large extent conditioned by foster fathers’ personality factors; to a smaller degree it is influenced by sociodemographic factors or those which are based in the system of social welfare. Conclusions: The specific nature of tasks set for a family-run children’s home demands that foster fathers should engage in the realization of parenting activity to the highest possible degree. It is thus not only important for men to be prepared to play the role of a foster father, but it is also vital to constantly support them in this role.Pozycja Kovacs, Gusztáv, Thought Experiments in Ethics, Pécs: Episcopal Theological College of Pécs, 2021. 291 p. The aim of the study is to apply the principle of mercy to the pastoral care of families. The method of analyzing the content of the teaching of Pope Francis is used, especially his apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia. The results obtained in the analysis constitute the outline of a new family pastoral strategy. The analysis concludes that mercy is the guiding principle in family pastoral care in the current socio-cultural conditions. This principle should apply in the relationship between the pastor and the spouses, in the relationship of the spouses with respect to each other and their children, and between the spouses and their families relating to other spouses and families.Pozycja Godzenie ról zawodowych z rodzinnymi w ocenie pracowników socjalnychWojtanowicz, Katarzyna (Redakcja Wydawnictw Wydziału Teologicznego Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, 2021)Reconciling work and family life is becoming a challenge today. Preparation for fulfilling social roles, including professional and family roles, is not only theoretical. The dimension of everyday combining of these two areas becomes particularly important today. The aim of this article is to present the profile of a social worker in terms of reconciling professional and family roles, especially in terms of the impact of work on the fulfillment of family roles. It also examines the level of job satisfaction, stress and whether the conditions of work organization have an influence on the family functioning of social workers. It was also considered how the experience of working with social welfare clients translates into the functioning of the social workers’ own family. As the presented research shows, professional work influences the reconciliation of professional and family roles of social workers. Respondents point to the reference from professional work, the experience of providing support and help to families with multiple problems, on the functioning of their own family.Pozycja Zum Umgang mit dem unerfüllten Kinderwunsch aus theologisch-spiritueller Sicht.
