Radykalna krytyka szkoły i nowe strategie edukacyjne w II połowie XX wieku
Wolter, Edyta (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The aim of this article is to justify/prove the following thesis by way of logical deduction: a human, as a potential being can develop (throughout the entire life) to become a rational and responsible being within the social and natural environment, provided that the “technical civilization” complies with the humanistic view of spiritual development of a person which constitutes an implication of international strategies in the second half of the 21st century.

Relacja pomiędzy znakami a wiarą w Jezusa w świetle Czwartej Ewangelii
Szubtarski, Grzegorz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
This article is an attempt at showing the relationship between the signs made by Jesus and human faith on the basis of the fourth gospel. In the first stage, the author carries out an analysis of the biblical word ,,sign”. He contends that, due to its deeper meaning, it should not be equated with a miracle. In the Bible ,,sign” refers to an act of God’s intervention, aimed at leading man to faith. Further analyses reveal a specific understanding of the word ,,sign” as understood by the fourth evangelist. The signs made by Jesus do not impose faith on man but invite to it. The good will and openness on the part of man play a crucial role here.

„Donec formetur Christus in vobis (Ga 4,19)”. Od soteriologii ikonicznej do parenezy mimetycznej
Sztuk, Dariusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
In reflection dedicated to the relations between theological arguments and parenesis in St. Paul’s epistolarium, there is a general agreement as to the fact that ethical exhortations are usually motivated by the doctrinal passages of the letters of the Apostle Paul, or, that they are woven into the argumentative substance of a given letter. Without denying this fact, it seems that the relationship between the two parts of the letters can be described in a different way. Namely, due to the fact that their doctrinal part presents the image of Christ and His work of salvation, we can characterize soteriology as iconic. This is possible because its agens is itself an icon. In other words, Paul’s Christology is iconic because Christ is the ‘image of God’ and, consequently, His work present in the cross, the sign of salvation, is also iconic. Soteriology remains related to the ethical part of the letters and, because St. Paul in different ways encourages his recipients to follow and to be like Christ, it will be justified to define his parenesis as mimetic.

Kult św. Cecylii, dziewicy i męczennicy, w polskiej pieśni religijnej na przykładzie pieśni J. Łuciuka, M. Świerzyńskiego, A. Chlondowskiego i Z. Piaseckiego
Szczeblewski, Łukasz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The contemporary religious songs in honour of Saint Cecile presented in this work prove that the cult of the Saint Virgin and Martyr is still prevailing in the Catholic Church. The article describes the life of Saint Cecile and provides a brief history of her cult. Presentation of songs in honour of this Patron of music constitutes an essential part of the study. The author begins with an analysis of their melodic aspects focusing, among others, on the kinds of melodies and intervallic scales. The article discusses also rhythmicity and the lyrics of the presented works . It is worth emphasizing that these songs might be used during celebration of Eucharistic Liturgy on the Day of Saint Cecile as well as during other services held in honour of the Roman Martyr.

    Paradygmat poznawczy etologicznej Szkoły Lorenza-Tinbergena
Sut, Anna (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The concept of the titular paradigm pertains to the works of Thomas Kuhn who, in the 1960s of the last century, referred it to all types of human cognition, especially to scientific cognition identified with natural science. Many historians point to the fact that Konrad Lorenz, who is recognized as the founder of modern ethology, gathered a group of biologists respecting a uniform research methodology. The cooperation of Konrad Lorenz with Nikolaas Tinbergen, which often led to creative disputes, had a number of fundamental effects for ethology, the most important of them concerning the ethological theory of instinct and the ethological theory of the laws ruling the functioning of stimuli. The cooperation between Lorenz and Tinbergen resulted in the fact that today we can talk about Lorenz-Tinbergen school of ethology which assigns this field of knowledge a permanent place among other types of human cognition, especially among different branches of evolutionary biology.

    „Non scholae sed vitae…”. Kształcenie, religia i społeczeństwo w teoriach pedagogicznych J.F. Herbarta i F.D.E. Schleiermachera
Stępkowski, Dariusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The papers is based on the pedagogical theories of J. F. Herbart and F.D.E. Schleiermacher. Despite the fact that they both lived a long time ago – at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries – their observations are still valid. In addition, they were both protagonists of general pedagogy as an independent scientific field. The paper is divided into three parts. In the first, the term Bildung will be explained with the help of the metaphor of a ship. Bildung is an individual process as well as a social process of becoming an individual, in which a combination of teaching and learning plays the key role. In the second part, Herbart’s views on the ‘place’ of religion in Bildung, as well as in school education, will be presented. The third part of the article will revolve around Schleiermacher’s theory of Bildung. According to this theory, we can distinguish four major communities within the social environment in which an individual human being is formed: the country (German: Staat), science (German: Wissenschaft), the church (German: Kirche), and independent social organizations (German: freie Gesellichkeit). Becoming aware of the similarities and differences between them induces a re-evaluation of the current attitude toward religion that is unjustly eliminated from the widely understood social discourse.

Klaus Michael Meyer-Abich on Ecological Revolution
Selmaj-Pomaska, Paulina (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
This article refers to K. M. Meyer-Abich’s concept of ecological revolution mainly presented in his book “Revolution for Nature”, where the author explained the idea of a holistic alternative to the Western world-view which remains under the questionable influence of the Enlightenment. The solution and termination of the so-called ecological crisis can only be achieved if people recognize their responsibilities towards all things in nature. Practical philosophy of nature determines such perspectives of human development, which are based on the principles founding and stabilizing the ethos of its ecological survival. K. M. Meyer-Abich talks about the principle of peace. This idea includes establishing peace with man, which is the first step towards establishing peace with nature.

Perceptions of Purpose/Meaning in Life in Relation to Transition and Access to Kenyan Universities. Empirical Research Among First Year Students
Muiruri, Kagwe Cosmas; Formella, Zbigniew (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
We investigated the perception of meaning/purpose in life in relation to transition and access to Kenyan universities in a sample of 1173 first year students, in the three modes of access namely: Joint Admission Board students (JAB), Self-Sponsored Programs students (SSP) and the Private University students (PU). The Purpose-in-Life Test (PIL) and The Seeking of Noetic Goals Test (SONG) were used to measure Viktor Frankl’s concept of Will to Meaning and existential vacuum in which four interpretable dimensions of satisfaction with life were extracted with 2 factors loading on the PIL and two on the SONG with the Kenyan sample. The JABs attained a higher score than SSPs and PUs and inversely a lower score in SONG than the other two. This result supports assertion that SONG is a complementary scale to PIL contributing two factors that deal with purpose in life and two motivations for meaning in life. The two instruments proved their cross-cultural reliability and validity with the Kenyan sample.

Inspiracje muzyką dawną w twórczości kompozytorskiej Pawła Łukaszewskiego na przykładzie wybranych utworów: „Luctus Mariae”, „Via Crucis” i „Resurrectio”
Łukaszewski, Marcin Tadeusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The article discusses some aspects of the work of Paweł Łukaszewski (b. 1968), a Polish composer working at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Łukaszewski’s musical works primarily consist of sacral music. The article describes the features of his compositional techniques, inspiration derived from early music and the use of rhetorical figures in three works: Luctus Mariae, Via Crucis and Resurrectio. All works are written for Latin texts. Luctus Mariae – for the contemporary Latin poetry of Jerzy Wojtczak-Szyszkowski, the other works for liturgical texts and passages from the Scripture. Łukaszewski describes his musical language as “renewed tonality”. In the presented works, the author introduces the following musical rhetorical figures: saltus duriusculus, exclamatio, aposiopesis, suspiratio, dispositio. The lineup and deliberative use of a formal course in these works is also symbolic.

Od biologii zachowania się zwierząt do biologii ludzkiego poznania
Łepko, Zbigniew (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The article discusses the effects of Konrad Lorenz’s work at the University of Königsberg. They constitute a response of biology to Immanuel Kant’s question regarding the possibility of making synthetic a priori judgments, which he presented in monographs “Kant’s Lehre vom Apriorischen im Lichte gegenwärtiger Biologie” and „Die angeborenen Formen möglicher Erfahrung”. The two Lorenz’s publications present the main thesis of evolutionary epistemology which can be understood both as phylogenesis of human cognitive abilities and as a theory of epistemological process of approaching the truth of the reality. Evolutionary epistemology’s significance is lies in an attempt to show the way of overcoming the opposition between rationalism and empiricism and between realism and idealism. The attempt raises a controversy and questions concerning the methodological status such epistemology which bridges biology and philosophy.

    Mobbing w wychowaniu
Kosmatka, Romualda Małgorzata (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
The word ‘mobbing’ derives from an English word ‘mob’ – a disorderly crowd of people, the common people, a crowd engaged in lawless violence – and means ‘to attack, harass, surround’. Factors which allow to forecast violent behaviour include parental delinquency, the child’s temper, little support from the guardian (usually mother) as well as the use of upbringing methods based on force and permissive attitude of parents who tolerate their child’s aggressive behaviour towards siblings, peers and adults. The emergence of children’s aggressive behaviour is enhanced by components of the upbringing style in the family as well as the correlations among them. In order to aid upbringing without violence, it is worth considering the model of situational parenting. Effective prevention of aggressive behaviour should encompass suggestions of programmes addressed, in the first place, to parents. It is crucial to teach parents how to react to misbehaviour without resorting to violence.

    Kult Nemezis w starożytnym Rzymie
Karczewska, Helena (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
In ancient Rome Nemesis, primarily known as a goddess of revenge, was also worshiped as a deity of indignation and punishment. She directed the affairs of men, decided about human happiness and misery, and guarded the law. The cult of Nemesis can be traced back to the fifth century BC Greece, however, it was particularly vivid in Rome, especially at the time of the Empire, when it occupied a special place in Roman religion. Literary sources, as well as iconographic representations present Nemesis as a guardian of the law and order of the state. Nemesis in ancient Rome was primarily a patron of games held in amphitheaters. She became the main object of worship among gladiators and venatores. One of the most interesting representations is, however, an effigy of Nemesis trampling over a lying human body, which became an important element of imperial propaganda, especially during the reigns of Trajan and Hadrian.
