„Passio Sanctorum Martyrum Fructuosi Episcopi, Auguri et Eulogi Diaconum” i jej motywy w twórczości Augustyna i Prudencjusza
Skowroński, Piotr (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Both authors, Prudentius Clemens and Augustine of Hippo, recalled in their works the martyrdom of the bishop Fructuosus of Terragona and his deacons, Augurius and Eulogius. Poem VI from Peristephanon is entirely devoted to the subject of Spanish martyrs. Likewise, Augustine in his Sermo 273 mentions Fructuosus, Augurius and Eulogius. The article focuses on the way in which martyrdom is described by both authors.

Funkcje społeczne rodziny i jej zagrożenia na przykładzie regionu warmińsko-mazurskiego
Nogowski, Jacek Marek (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Seen as the smallest social entity, the family underlies all of society and fulfills three basic functions: procreative, educational and economic. The causes of problems for modern families include, among others, deteriorating economic conditions, i.e. high unemployment rate, low salary, an increase in both the cost of living and education. Another threat leading to the disintegration of the family is the severity of pathological phenomena e.g. alcoholism, drug addiction, domestic violence, and crime. The disappearance of the multi-generational family and a decline in the number of children per family are also noted as threats.

L’offensiva radiofonica nazista contro il card. Hlond nel 1940
Monticone, Alberto (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Reaching to archival records, the article describes the ways in which broadcasting radio stations which remained under the control of Nazi during World War II, influenced public opinion in order to falsify the image and mislead the public with reference to the statesman and respected authority, Cardinal August Hlond – the Primate of Poland. The author elucidates the history introducing the readers into the context of the initial phase of the warfare on the territory of Poland. It also centres on Cardinal Hlond’s stay in Rome, his pastoral and diplomatic activity aimed at presenting a veracious picture of the fate of Poland and its people during German occupation. It was exactly this activity which became inconvenient for the occupant and resulted in mass propaganda undertaken by Nazi broadcasting stations.

    Barbarzyńcy według Salwiana z Marsylii
Kołosowski, Tadeusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
In De gubernatione Dei, Salwian of Marseilles assesses barbarians in a negative and positive manner. One might even get the impression that Salwian delivers a eulogy in honor of the barbarians. The knowledge which Salwian communicates about the subject of barbarians is general in character, even sketchy. This knowledge comes from a certain rhetorical and literary canon, which was circulated at that time. Salwian does not give any more information on the topic of the barbarians directly from him. Although Salwian specifies the negative characteristics of individual barbarous nations, he is not especially interested in showing a negative image of them. Salwian shows barbarians in a rhetorical contrast to Roman Catholics. The pagan or Arian barbarians are portrayed in many cases as better than Roman Catholics and their guilt is shown to be lesser.

Rodzina w procesie rewalidacji, rehabilitacji i rozwoju religijno-moralnego osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną
Kluz, Marek (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Man created in the image and likeness of God should be guided in life by the law of love. This love should be shown to every human person. Individuals with mental disabilities should also be engulfed by this caring love. This is a huge challenge and task especially for parents. On them rests the great responsibility for the process of development of these individuals, including responsibility for their Christian upbringing. Therefore, the aim of this article is to present the role of the family in the process of revalidation, rehabilitation and Christian formation of persons with mental disabilities.

Świat jako otchłań morska. Saeculum w nauczaniu św. Hilarego z Poitiers
Karczewska, Helena (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Saeculum in Hilary’s teaching is a term applied to mankind remaining under the influence of sin and evil spirits. Drawing on Sacred Scripture, the Bishop of Poitiers compares earthly reality to a stormy and bottomless sea or to the depths of the sea, and describes the way that saeculum works: the mild and gentle breezes of the sea symbolize the cunning activities of heretics and violent storms and tempests correspond to the attacks of pagans and evil spirits. By portraying the world as a sea abyss, the bishop points out the nature of saeculum, filled with dangers to man’s faith. At the same time, he tries to persuade believers to work on themselves and indicates how to deal with saeculum. In Hilary’s teaching, faith matters the most in contact with earthly reality. The proclamation of Christ, as well as fasting and prayer, are all useful for the believer. Hilary clearly shows that saeculum contributes to the spiritual development of man, even though it carries with it many risks.

Rola ciała w walce duchowej w „Drabinie Raju” św. Jana Klimaka
Jasiewicz, Arkadiusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Through His incarnation, Christ sanctified all of material creation, including the human body, which thereby became a channel of God’s grace. This theme of the glorified body is central to patristic and ascetic spirituality. Thus, Climacus adopts a similar attitude and represents the body as a “friend,” an “ally,” an “assistant” and a “defender.” Climacus’ theology in no way negates the meaning of the body though he speaks of three different, yet fundamentally similar, ways of carrying out this ascetic struggle: isolation (apotage, kseniteia), the “royal” way and mortification. Although the body was destroyed by original sin, it is not by its nature sinful or sacred; but it may be sanctified. John Climacus simply informs his readers that transfiguration is possible here and now.

Znaczenie terminu „epidemia” w starożytnej literaturze grecko-rzymskiej. Próba analizy na wybranych przykładach
Iwańska, Judyta (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
The article discusses the meaning of the term ‘epidemic’ in the literary sources of ancient Greece and Rome. It presents an attempt at tracing the semantics of the words νόσος, λοιμός and ἐπιδεμία in Greek literature and illustrates various usage of ἐπιδεμία before Hippocrates. It also shows what terms were used by Roman scribes to define pestilence or points out that Homer used the word in Illiad in the meaning of: “this one who liked passionately the frightening civil war”. Sophocles used ‘epidemios’ in King Oedipus referring to dissemination and propagation of the king’s fame. The authors before Hippocrates applied this term almost to any phenomenon (people, rain, war) except for disease. Hippocrates was the first one to adapt it to medical terminology. (P. Martin, E. Martin, 2,500-year …).
