Pozycja The Authority of the Saints as a Model and Example to Follow According to Pope FrancisZharuk, Oleg (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)From the moment a person chooses certain religious principles and begins to shape their relationship with God, the development of a religious personality begins. In religious education, authorities and personal models are necessary, and they help a person better understand the need to live according to principles and values. Therefore, in order for a person to grow and mature in their religiosity, they need appropriate authorities and models. Pope Francis in the Apostolic Exhortation entitled “Gaudete et Exsultate. On the call to holiness in the contemporary world” (April 9, 2018) draws special attention to holiness as a category that is not abstract, not impersonal, but true and real. Holiness is always connected with a person; it is a vocation to be an authority and a model that they become for other believers. Saints become true authorities for us and help in educating others. When writing the Exhortation, Pope Francis was aware of the importance of an example in the process of shaping the character of every person and their upbringing. The Holy Father closely links authority as a personal model with the vocation to holiness. Francis understands authority in the catechetical sense. This model is understood as moral perfection, and it is adherence to Christ himself. Therefore, in addition to the persons of Jesus and Mary, there are other authorities and models in Catholic education. We make reference to such people who wanted to imitate Christ as perfectly as possible in their lives. These are the saints, the blessed, as well as people who, by the example of their lives, are worthy of imitation: parents who raise their children; working men and women; sick, elderly people; and consecrated persons. The transmission of appropriate and valuable authorities and models is necessary in the upbringing of not only children and youth, but also adults.Pozycja The Role and Significance of Monastic Chronicles in Reflecting Social and Monastic Life in Ukrainian Lands in the Background of the Chronicle From the Protection of the Mother of God Monastery in Yavoriv in the Years 1897–1935Steblyna, Yeremia (Okasana) (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)The article presents the role and significance of monastic chronicles from Ukrainian lands as an important element of reflections on the historical processes of a given era. They were written in Ukrainian, which is very close to the people’s spoken language. Keeping chronicles in monasteries was one of the main tasks of monks and nuns, who left behind a rich spiritual and historical heritage. The development of historical events in the Church and the state during those times is shown using one such chronicles, namely the chronicle of the monastery of the Protection of the Mother of God in Yavoriv in the years 1897–1935. The monastery of the Basilian Sisters in Yavoriv was the center of spiritual and cultural life for Ukrainians. The chronicle compiled there reflects not only the facts of the monastic life of the Basilian Sisters, but also events from the social, political and cultural life of the region at that time. It is a valuable source of research for both historians and linguists.Pozycja Antoni Kępiński’s Integral AnthropologySaszko, Irena (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)Anthony Kempinski (1918–1972) – the most famous Polish psychiatrist and philosopher; founder of the model of axiological psychiatry, according to which human behavior is regulated by a hierarchy of values, author of the theory of energy-information metabolism. This article describes the integral vision of the human person by Antoni Kempinski, as well as the specifics of his therapeutic approaches as a psychiatrist. Therefore, to define its anthropological principles, the concept of “integral anthropology” was formulated. It is claimed that the basis of Antoni Kempinski’s anthropology is energetic-informational metabolism. If energy metabolism is subject to two biological laws: the preservation of life and the preservation of species, the information metabolism is associated with the subconscious (feelings) and consciousness (intellect and will). For Kempinski, man is an informational-energic, meaning psychosomatic integrity endowed with a spiritual element, as well as called to a mature, deep and lasting relationship with his environment, through which he can occur as a person. Any deviations at the level of energetic-informational metabolism lead to his mental disorders. Thus, a person can decide about their attitude towards the environment thanks to their biological conscience, which distinguishes the human person from the whole world of living organisms.Pozycja Interpretation of Biblical Texts in Contemporary Panentheistic DiscoursePalchyk, Andrii (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)This article addresses the issue of the interpretation of biblical texts by representatives of contemporary panentheistic thought. While examining the issue of the “God – world” relationship, they not only used fragments of the Holy Scripture to develop their concepts, but at the same time gave these fragments a panentheistic tone. Therefore, understanding the specificity of the panentheistic interpretation of such fragments in the works of individual authors becomes possible only after taking into account the internal logic of this or that concept. The article presents the panentheistic understanding of biblical fragments in the context of Ch. Hartshorne’s processual panentheism, where certain fragments of the Holy Scripture are understood as a pattern of quasi-panentheistic thought. The paper also includes the concept of the “field of rationality” by J. Życiński; the value of biblical texts in the soteriological panentheism presented by N. Gregersen is emphasized, and the panentheistic interpretations of the description of the creation of the world in the works of Ph. Clayton and D. Griffin are discussed. The conducted analysis allows us to state that the specificity of some panentheistic concepts determines the selection of these and not other biblical texts. These texts not only emphasize God’s immanence in the world, but also His transcendence.Pozycja An Ontological Relation Between Priesthood and Celibacy?Balog, Petro (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2024)For centuries, the nature of the Catholic priesthood has been and continues to be the subject of theological debate. Among other things, this article discusses the connection between celibacy and the sacrament of priesthood. Some theologians claim that there is an ontological connection between celibacy and ordination. This article examines such a claim, trying to answer the question: is celibacy really ontologically connected to priesthood and is there an ontological change in the person who receives this sacrament, which necessarily includes celibacy? Based on the analysis, the author concludes that priestly ordination cannot cause an ontological change in a person, and therefore, celibacy is not ontologically connected to ordination either.
