Kompendium nową formą Katechizmu Kościoła Katolickiego
Kiciński, Andrzej (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church contains a synthesis of the Church’s Credo, and according to John Paul II’s intention is a certain kind of vade mecum that allows both believers and non-believers to generally learn about the whole of the Catholic Church’s doctrine. The Compendium accurately reflects the structure, language and contents of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and may become aid and at the same time provide an impulse to fully and deeply learn the Catholic faith. Since it is so concise, clear and integral, the Compendium should be accessible to any person, who living in a chaotic world receives numerous messages and would like to learn about the Way of Life and Truth commended to Jesus Christ’s Church by God. Return to catechisms that have the character of a dialog refers to the rich tradition in which the Church conducted a dialog between the Master and his pupil. An authoritative tool for catechesis was needed. The new Compendium is one, that is also characterized by presence of sacred art. The reason is that catechesis has to make spiritual, invisible, divine reality become perceivable, and even possibly appealing. Catechesis always has to look for forms that can express what is inexpressible.

Technologia informacyjna w dydaktycznym procesie nauczania religii
Mąkosa, Paweł (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
A process can be observed nowadays in which an information society is arising whose main feature is the dominance of information and means for storing, processing and transferring it. The most modern technological means used in many spheres of life are called information technology. This technology, and mainly the computer and the Internet may and should be used ever more widely in education, including religious education. Use of information technology in the process of religion teaching undoubtedly contributes to increasing its effectiveness, and also makes fulfilling the basic functions of catechesis easier.

Zdolność do budowania wspólnoty małżeńskiej w świetle badań Katedry Duszpasterstwa Rodzin
Parysiewicz, Beata (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
The author tackles the problem of conditions for forming a marital community. In the theoretical part of the article she characterizes marriage in the light of the sociological theory of social exchange, the psychological theory of transactional analysis and marital communication, and as a theological category, communio personarum. This characterization serves distinguishing the basic abilities that the persons who want to form and develop a marital community must have. In the empirical part young people’s personal background for forming a marital community are presented. The data was obtained from a review conducted in single persons at the age of 19-20, and in marriages at the stage of “no children yet” The author argues that a lack of proper value hierarchy as well as ignorance of the communication rules and rules governing inter-human relationships in the light of the presented scientific theories may render it impossible to form a marital community.

Apostolat miłosierdzia w świetle nauczania Jana Pawła II
Przygoda, Wiesław (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
The secularized contemporary world is experiencing a deficit of attitudes of sensibility, kindness and mutual help. This situation is a real challenge for the followers of Christ who keeps calling for preaching the message of God’s charity both in word and in deed. The apostolate of charity consists in imitating Christ in the work of reconciling people who are at odds with themselves, with their neighbors and with God, and in imitating him in the acts of charity. The author of the article first shows the theological and historical foundations of the apostolate of charity. Pope John Paul II was a great advocate of God’s charity; he not only preached it but also practiced it through his charity ministry. The apostolate of charity is a vocation of all Christians. To put charity works into effect constant formation is necessary that should aim at formation of the spirituality of charity in man. Only the one who will accept the gift of God’s charity will be able to transform himself and will be able to perform acts of love towards his neighbor.

    Formacyjne zadania czytelnictwa publikacji katolickich
Śmigiel, Wiesław (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
In the Church’s teaching as well as in pastoral practice reading Catholic publications has always been an important means of religious formation of the faithful. However, the emphasis was put in different ways: from the struggle against reading wrong publications (until the Vatican Council II) to utter affirmation of reading Catholic publications. Reading Catholic publications influences a man’s integral formation: human, spiritual, moral and doctrinal. Contact with the written word plays an important role in the process of transmitting and intensifying the faith (EN 42). Moreover, it helps form a community. The Holy Scripture takes a special place in the formation process. It is a peculiar way of transmitting faith to us, since Christ as the talking one is present in it. Communication with Christ through books is a true communion with Him - the Giver of faith, hope and love. Communion with Christ leads the reader to cognition of the truth that liberates him.

    Wychowanie do patriotyzmu przez katechezę
Słotwińska, Helena (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
The article consists of three logically distinguished parts devoted to the notion of patriotism, education and formation of patriotic attitudes and the role of catechesis united with liturgy in forming such attitudes. The first part of the article presents on the basis of dictionaries and encyclopedias the concept of patriotism, its meaning and etymology. In the second part directions are given to catechists about how they should teach patriotism and form patriotic attitudes. The final part discusses liturgy as a place where patriotic attitudes are formed, as well as the supporting role of catechesis with respect to liturgy. The connection is also pointed to between love of the heavenly homeland and the earthly one.

Katechetyczny przekaz o cierpieniu i śmierci inspirowany nauczaniem Jana Pawła II
Zając, Marian (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
The catechetic message about suffering and death gained a lot owing to the events preceding the death of John Paul II. Not only the view of his suffering, exceptional humility and prayer, but also his apostolic teaching helps understand this mystery. While preparing the catechized people to the apostolate of suffering one may not leave out the message about suffering and death from the catechesis. Transmitting the message about suffering and dying to the catechized, catechists are in a special position as they may use an example of experiencing these mysteries. According to Pope John Paul II’s teaching, suffering is a point of reference in a man’s life. It is always a salutary mystery. An apostolic attitude should result from catechetic formation focused on suffering. In defining the obligations of the catechized towards people who suffer John Paul II’s apostolic teaching has the value of a source.

    Obecność Kościoła w życiu gospodarczym
Fiałkowski, Marek (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
Economic life seems to be one of the most dynamically developing spheres in the modern world. These changes are a source of hope but also they carry a lot of questions and problems. The questions deserve attention of the Church whose mission it is to preach the Gospel in order to fill the whole reality of the earth with its spirit. The article undertakes the issue of the Church’s involvement in economic life. It shows the prophetic-critical function as the Church’s proper function in the sphere of economic life, next the most important principles worked out by the Church’s social teaching on which it should be based, and finally the special role of lay Catholics in the field of economic life.

Kościół a życie polityczne jako problem pastoralny
Kamiński, Ryszard (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
Man is “the way of the Church” (RH 14) and that is why its mission should comprise all the dimensions of life, including politics. According to the Church, Catholics’ political involvement is an important dimension of their care for the common good. On the strength of the holy baptism Catholics are called to responsibility for political, social and cultural life. Catholics’ political involvement should be consistent with the principles of the Gospel and bound by the spirit of ministry. Limits of lay Catholics’ involvement in political life are set by the Church’s social teaching. Preparation for political and social work begins in the family. Catholic circles, communities and associations are a support for people undertaking work in political and social life since they offer a chance to enlarge one’s knowledge as well as to exchange views and convictions. Schools and courses of political and social formation can also play an important role. They serve inculturation of the Gospel and overcoming the division between faith and Catholics’ political involvement.

Demonologia w opinii wybranych grup katechizowanych
Kulpaczyński, Stanisław (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
The article is a theoretical-empirical presentation of demonology as seen by selected groups of catechized youths. The theoretical part shows an outline of demonology on the basis of the Holy Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, selected literature and catechism textbooks. The catechized young people’s views about Satan are presented on the basis of a diagnostic review (733 pupils’ responses to 6 out of 18 review questions were used). Sources of knowledge about Satan are presented (catechesis, the Bible, the Church), information about the origin of the devil (a fallen angel, from hell), the notion of it (an evil spirit, a fallen angel, the Tempter, the incarnation of evil), facts remembered from the Holy Scripture (he tempted Adam and Eve, Jesus and people), his role nowadays (he tempts people, turns them away from God, induces them to commit sins). The subjects did not have a good knowledge of demonology and asked to be informed about those spirits reliably.

    Duszpasterstwo związków niesakramentalnych
Pyźlak, Grzegorz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
Within the range of the past few years, the issue of “The Ministry of the marriages not sanctified by church” has been a serious problem for the priests taking care of the Catholics who decided to contract a registry marriage. This ministry regards people who live in marria ges not sanctified by church and who are not able to regulate their marital status. As the years go by, such people perceive the value of such sacraments as: confession and the Eucharist, in which they cannot fully participate since they contracted a registry marriage, in a different way. The things which they used to appreciate as constituting the delight and the major significance of their lives: the intimacy of being with the other person, children and home, prove insufficient. The documents of the Second Vatican Synod, of the Synod of Bishops in Rome and of the Second Plenary Synod of Poland appeal to treat those who live in marriages not sanctified by church in a positive and forbearing way. The ministry of such marriages should not, however, approve of divorce or legalize it. The aim of the ministry is to help to those Catholics whose life and marital status are complicated. The presented set of proposals on the ministry among the people who live in marriages not sanctified by church, including the retreat, meetings, or the contact through the media, and providing psychological and pedagogical help, is supposed to make them aware of the fact that the Church wants to help them to the extent which would not go against the doctrines of our faith.

    Ku pneumatologicznym podstawom duszpasterstwa
Bielecki, Stanisław (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
Profound theological foundations of pastorate have a significant effect on the Church’s salutary mediation. From the treasures of pneumatology the motif of “the Spirit and the mission” that pervades all the Bible has been chosen as one that has the key reference to the heralded Messiah, to the people of the Old Covenant, to Jesus, to the Church and to each Christian. The issue of “the Holy Spirit and the mission” has been tackled in two aspects: “The Holy Spirit and the salutary mediation of the Church” and “The Holy Spirit and recognizing the signs of the time by the Church”.

    Posługa kaznodziejska we wspólnocie parafialnej
Broński, Włodzimierz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
New evangelization is urgently needed in our times. In Poland, in the practice of the parish life it is reduced to the priest’s preaching sermons. However, life in the Church communion requires that the faithful actively join the preacher’s service. Polish parish communities should be transformed from purely administrative units into dynamic evangelization communities in which both presbyters and lay people will take to heart the missionary spirit.
