Inspiracje „Konstytucji duszpasterskiej o Kościele w świecie współczesnym” dla teologii znaków czasu
Fiałkowski, Marek (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The theology of signs of the times is an essential element of the pastoral strategy of the Church and is one of the basic theological categories related to properly discovering the mutual relations between the Church and the world. The development of that theology began during the pontificate of John XXIII, who brought back the expression “signs of the times” in ecclesial terminology and gave it new meaning. The idea of “the signs of the times” has made its imprint on the teachings of Vatican II. This article is an attempt to present the inspirations for the theology of the signs of the times contained in the Apostolic constitution On the Church in the Modern World. For that purpose the expression “signs of the times” was explained, which as of yet has no explicit definition. The article then presents the recommendations formulated by the Gaudium et spes on the ways of interpreting the signs of the times. At the end the objectives of recognition and study of the signs of the times by the Church were disclosed

Wpływ soborowej konstytucji „Gaudium et spes” na rozwój teologii pastoralnej i duszpasterstwo
Kamiński, Ryszard (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)

Franciszka Blachnickiego
Kulbacki, Piotr (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The article concerns the reception by Fr. Blachnicki thoughts of John Paul II’s encyclical Dives in misericordia. Formulating the program of human liberation Fr. Blachnicki closely tied it with evangelization and deuterocatechumenate formation. This program is founded on the biblical concept of liberation or salvation, based on the paradigm of the Exodus and on Christian anthropology, especially expressed in the encyclical John Paul II’s Redemptor hominis. The study proved that the Church’s teaching on God’s Mercy allowed F. Blachnicki to formulate the fundamental thesis of “liberation by truth” regarded as “the basic work of mercy”. Thus, “Polish liberation theology” understood in that way displayed its realization in the social commitment based on the evangelization program Ad Christum Redemptorem and in its three phases of proclaiming God’s Mercy – prayer, kerygma, liberation.

Małżeńskie „communio personarum” w perspektywie jedyności i troistości Boga
Landwójtowicz, Paweł (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The central truth of Christian revelation is that absolutely prime are the Three Divine Persons including Their mutual clinging and unity. Their communion constitutes the essence, archetype of all realities and it is something according to what everything should be shaped. The Trinity and matrimony of people constitute two completely different realities. Taking into consideration the above assumptions concerning the analogy between The Trinity and marriage, selected qualities resulting from uniqueness and trinity of God (relationality, uniqueness, mutuality, equality, love, communication) have been presented, as well as directions for marriage and its united life arising from them. The above considerations point clearly that profound theological glance at the main revealed truth about God in the Three Divine Persons also allows to discover essential inspirations for marriage and family life as well as spirituality related to it in everyday life.

    Zadania apostolskie dyplomatów
Lipiec, Dariusz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The Apostolic See perceives diplomats as partners in the common efforts to build the international community. Diplomats represent, first and foremost, the interests of their own countries and of their governments, however, they are aware that in the modern globalized world successful politics, economy and culture require constant cooperation between countries and nations. The teaching of the contemporary Church, inspired by the Constitution Gaudium et spes, indicates three major apostolic responsibilities of diplomats: they concern the human person, the community of their own country and nation as well as the international community. The Church introduces the rules of her social science to diplomats to help them implement her apostolic obligations. These rules include: the rule of the common wealth, of fair play and of solidarity. They are effective at all levels of the apostolic activity of the environment of diplomats.

Zranienie społeczne. Nowy paradygmat dla Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej
Máté-Tóth, András (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
Since the first quarter after the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe religions and bigger and smaller religious communities are one of the most important public players. In every post-communist states there are new laws regarding freedom of religion and church financing. Local religious communities are important players in the rebuilding of civil society. Over the national/nationalistic dimension of the new public presence of religion there are some regional issues of history, identity and live in freedom, which should be analyzed. Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe can be characterized as one multiple cultural region in seeking social and cultural identity. One of the most important dimension of the regional context is the post-genocide experience, the permanent imagination of genocides and other forms of historical wounds. Under genocides I mean the experience of so called bloodlands (Snyder), Holocaust and Srebrenica. In my presentation I try to argue for one particular interpretation of the societies in Central and Eastern Europe dealing with post-genocide public discourses. Religions, theologies and churches play important role in seeking and offering post-genocide identity – that kind of public activity is in my opinion the central and special point in the adequate and appropriate interpretation of contemporary processes in the region; and that approach can be seen as one particular and original theoretical framework for understanding the region today and not at least for one new vision of pastoral care as well.

Problem spójności polityki społecznej z konstytucją soborową „Gaudium et spes”
Mazur, Jan (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
Albowiem politykę, w szczególności politykę społeczną, uprawiają ludzie, którzy w przeważającej większości przynależną do dwóch społeczności jednocześnie: politycznej i religijnej.

The Apostolic constitution Gaudium et spes of the Second Vatican Council indicates its pastoral nature. This document places the matter of marriage and family as the first one among the important problems of the modern world and dedicates a significant portion of its reflection to it (nos. 47-52). The author of this article makes the point that this part had an essential influence on the concept and activity of pastoral care of the family in Poland. The teaching of the Second Vatican Council on marriage and family was later authoritatively interpreted and developed in Papal documents: Paul VI (mainly in the encyclical letter Humanae vitae) and John Paul II (especially in the Apostolic exhortation Familiaris consortio, the encyclical letter Evangelium vitae, and Letter to the Families). Papal teaching has allowed the pastoral care of the family to deeper understand the message of the Second Vatican Council and to better incorporate it into everyday life. But it was easier to present the doctrine of the Catholic Church on marriage and family than to convince the youth, betrothed and married couples to apply it in life. The first paragraph of the article contains an analysis of the new aspects of the Second Vatican Council’s teaching on marriage and family, the second paragraph studies the part of the apostolic constitution Gaudier et spes, entitled De matrimonii dignitate and shows its implications in the pastoral care of the family in Poland.

Szlachetny choć nieco naiwny optymizm. „Gaudium et spes” o kulturze
Potocki, Andrzej (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The author comments upon a fragment of the pastoral constitution Gaudium et Spes concerning culture. This concerns the second chapter of the second part entitled “The Proper Development of Culture”. The commentary is written 50 years after the document was embraced by the Second Vatican Council, yet it is not intended as a jubilee commemoration. It looks at the conciliar work while taking into account what has been going on in culture over the past half century. The author highlights the unusual optimism of the conciliar fathers. He refers culture to the perfection of the human person, to the good of the community and to all of human society. They see in it a tool to perfect human talents and the way of his being with others. They state that the number of men and women aware of the fact that they create the culture of their communities is growing. The conciliar fathers seem to sing a praise hymn to culture. However, the mainstream cultural model of our times is a mass culture, that is, culture addressed to the utmost maximum number of recipients. It adjusts to their level, therefore, it resigns from the ambitions of high culture. Mass culture, due to the mediums it uses, has become media-culture. It is an over-technical culture, a culture which is for sale. It remains in the hands of those who hold power or money. The older culture, so-called “folk-culture”, was distinctively mobilizing. It was characterized by the identity of an artist and a recipient. A mass-media culture is by definition demobilizing. A consumer does not need to make any effort. He buys a product and satisfies himself with it. This type of culture does not help the individual person to grow; on the contrary, it makes him lazy. The conciliar fathers predicted that it would be different. But let us not complain about the authors of the document, rather, we should look at ourselves because we have not taken up the task properly. We, that is the creators and consumers of culture.

    Pokój jako misja Kościoła
Przybyłowski, Jan Kazimierz (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The primary mission of the Church is to proclaim Jesus Christ and realizing of salvation, which Jesus made on the cross. The cross is so true symbol of peace. Cross, thanks to the evangelizing mission of the Church, entered in the happening of any nation, but also is part of the history of humanity. This is not just a religious sign, but it’s also a symbol of human freedom. Free man may reject the Church and cross, but there is a loss of memory and Heritage Christian. Meanwhile, the real source of peace in human society is forgiveness and conversion, that is, introduction by man in his own inside of God’s law. Peace is not a utopia and is possible. And because it is possible, peace is a duty. That is why a man can and should make to the force of reason over force reasons. The Church, calling for peace, first and foremost, invited to do justice: Opus iustitiae pax – „If you want peace, work for justice”.

Antropologia konstytucji „Gaudium et spes” w perspektywie miłosierdzia
Przygoda, Wiesław (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The inspiration of this article was 50 anniversary of the proclamation of the Constitution Gaudium et Spes by the Second Vatican Council. Re-reading of this document leads to the conclusion that the main message of theological anthropology is still important. On the other hand, social and cultural context of life and human activity, shown in the Constitution, needs be supplemented with new phenomena that fifty years ago did not exist or did not occur with such intensity, as it is currently in the societies of Western civilization. Changes concerning philosophy and lifestyle, faith and religiosity, especially changes in perception of human sexuality and the meaning of the essence of marriage and family leads to look at Vatican II’s theology of human beings from the perspective of mercy. The teaching of the popes St. John Paul II and Francis also invites us to reflect on the mystery of human being in the spirit of Christian mercy. It should be emphasized that for modern man, with the mentality of Western culture, it is much more difficult to find his way to God, than it was in previous times. One of the ways leading to God, can be proposed to modern man, is the way of mercy.

Dottrina e pastorale: una storia infinita
Seveso, Bruno (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
Images and words, Pope Francis describes the essence of the Christian life, call to explore new initiatives and models of life in the faith. The call to pastoral renewal, which is currently being formulated by Pope Francis refers to the relationship between doctrine and pastoral practice, between theory and activity of the Church. This article is an analysis of the current challenges related to this issue. But also refers to a centuries-old tradition of the Church. In the last part of the article an attempt was made to develop the principles of dialogue between doctrine and pastoral activity of the Church.

Zadania hierarchii kościelnej wobec zrzeszeń religijnych
Śmigiel, Wiesław (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
Church hierarchy is the guarantor of permanence and unity of ecclesial structure but it requires religious associations to enrich the Church with charisms and the reviving breath of the Holy Spirit in order to protect Her from extensive institutionalisation. In Poland approximately 8% of Catholics (participanstes) belong to religious associations, which proves to be a significant power when it comes to evangelisation. Religious associations contribute to the renewal of the Church and make Her a living structure. Church hierarchy, in turn, offers ecclesial acknowledgement, care and reassurance of using the received charisms for the good of the people of God. Hierarchy protects associations from anarchy and gives them an ecclesial direction. The ministry of hierarchy is also the realisation of a charism of serving among other charisms and gifts in the Church.
