Pozycja Nowe tłumaczenie i interpretacja Iz 55,3-5. Studium egzegetyczno-historyczneZawadzki, Arnold (Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2017)The article proposes a new translation and interpretation of the messianic prophecy in Isa. 55:1-7, whose vv. 3-5 are thoroughly analyzed. The analysis includes not only the meaning of the individual words, but also the syntactic situation of the whole sentences. It was taken into account the problem of the historical context in which Deutero-Isaiah lived, worked and preached his message. This survey is designed to obtain a better understanding of the periscope, a more consistent translation and structure of the whole passage. The study undertakes an inquiry into the question of whether the eternal covenant in Isa. 55:1-7 is the continuation of the Sinaitic Covenant, or rather does its content go beyond the Mosaic Law, creating a totally new relationship of God with Israel. The study also draws attention to the existence of a redactional addition, which shifts the weight of the original message from a revanchist Judeocentrism toward the irenic ethnocentrism typical of the Book of Jonah.Pozycja The Concept of Judgment according to Rev 11:15-18Siemieniec, Tomasz (Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2017)The presented paper analyzes the text of Rev 11:15-18. The analysis showed that the divine judgment depicted in the discussed text has two dimensions. First, it is the reward for the faithful which is defined as “giving reward” (dounai ton misthon). This reward is being given to the faithful (designed as douloi, phoboumenoi to onoma, prophetai, hagioi). The other aspect of the judgment is a negative one. The act of punishment is expressed by the verbs krino and diaphtheiro. The people being judged and punished are defined as nekroi and diaphtheriontes ten gen. The term nekroi, in the author’s opinion, is to be understood in a spiritual meaning. The sentence pronounced on the culprits is a typical example of retributive justice. Because the term nekroi is to be understood spiritually (i.e., the matter is “the spiritually dead”) one cannot see in Rev 11:15-18 a direct announcement of the last judgment. The analysis of the following context shows that the beginning of the last judgment is performed by means of events depicted in Rev 12. The main criterion of affiliation regarding one of the two groups (the rewarded or the punished) is the attitude towards the Messiah presented in Rev 12:5. It does not mean that there is no relationship between the judgment having been already executed and the last judgment. The verdict pronounced by the last one will be a logical consequence of what takes place now.Pozycja Firmament i ciała niebieskie świadkami Boga (Syr 43,1-12)Piwowar, Andrzej (Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2017)Sir 43:1-12 constitutes the first section of the major part of the hymn celebrating the Creator (42:15–43:33). It is a poetic commentary on the fourth day of creation as depicted in the Book of Genesis (Gen 1:14-19). In his depiction of the firmament, sun, moon, stars and rainbow, Sirach emphasizes their beauty in a manner unparalleled in the whole Bible. This does not serve cosmological aims (the sage’s motive is not the transmission of knowledge about the structure and functioning of the cosmos – celestial bodies) but has clear theological precepts and message. The pericope’s aim is to present and glorify God as the Creator. The firmament, celestial bodies and rainbow are tools through which the sage conveys knowledge of God’s might, greatness, wisdom and beauty. All of these entities derive from God (cf. 43:33) and lead to him. Sir 43:1-12 has a clear polemical character, visible in questioning the beliefs of other cultures and religions – which posited celestial bodies as deities or realities that could exert substantial influence on human beings (astrology) – or of some Jewish groups which did not use lunar calendar.Pozycja Dorota Muszytowska, Etos chrześcijańskiej wspólnoty. It is presented as a remedy to the fragmentary character of the sociological and anthropological studies on the Bible. The stress on the close reading of the text inherent in the socio-rhetoric gives both sociology and anthropology the anchorage they need not to stray from the main object of their inquiry. The author with broad strokes depicts the development and main concepts of the socio-rhetorical methodology. Then, he explains the six stages postulated by the method: the analysis of inner texture, intertexture, social and cultural texture, ideological texture, sacred texture, and the so called rhetorolects.
