Abstrakt
The contemporary situation allows us to look critically on theology of Islam. The article mentions chosen aspects of the religion of Muhammad in theological reflection of two popes: John Paul’s II and Benedict’s XVI. Author shows the papal look on Islam, its view of God and teaching about Jesus from Nazareth contained in Koran. The teaching of John Paul II and Benedict XVI is faithful to doctrine of the II Vatican Council. However popes point out that Christian monotheism is not the same as Islamic monotheism and this translates to morality and life. In the article author also tried to show the timeliness of problems regarding theology of Islam fifty years after the last Council.
