Pośmiertna kara w ujęciu Czwartej Księgi Machabejskiej

Abstract

Jedną z kwestii teologicznych Czwartej Księgi Machabejskiej jest kara pośmiertna, której istotę autor tego dzieła ukazał w odniesieniu do Antiocha IV Epifanesa. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, że autor Czwartej Księgi Machabejskiej miał na uwadze wieczny wymiar tej kary. Podjęte zamierzenie zostanie realizowane na podstawie analizy terminów (przymiotniki: ἀκατάλυτος, αἰώνιος; rzeczownik αἰών) oraz form czasownikowych (zob. 4 Mch 18,5; 18,22), które opisują pośmiertną karę Antiocha IV. Przeprowadzone analizy pozwolą uchwycić zarówno wymiar, jak i charakter pośmiertnej retrybucji w ujęciu Czwartej Księgi Machabejskiej.One of the theological issues of the Fourth Book of Maccabees is the posthumous punishment, the essence of which the author of the Fourth Book of Maccabees demonstrated with reference to Antiochus IV Epiphanes. The purpose of the article is to show that the author of the Fourth Book of Maccabees had in mind the eternal dimension of this punishment. The analysis is implemented based on the analysis of individual terms (adjectives ἀκατάλυτος, αἰώνιος; noun αἰών) and forms of verbs (see 4 Macc 18:5 and 18:22) which describe the post-mortem punishment of Antiochus IV. The conducted analyzes allow to capture both the dimension and the character of post-mortem retribution as described by the Fourth Book of Maccabees.
