Abstrakt
IV Księga Sybilliańska jest przykładem literatury powstałej w kręgach diaspory żydowskiej. Autor księgi stawia sobie za cel doprowadzenie pogan do prawdy o jedynym, prawdziwym Bogu, Twórcy wszechświata. Zło rozprzestrzeniające się na świecie jest wynikiem braku oddawania czci prawdziwemu Bogu. Jeśli jednak ludzie nie posłuchają jej wezwania ku nawróceniu, Stwórca zainterweniuje w dzieje świata, da się poznać jako wszechmocny, a zarazem okrutny. Będzie sądził ludzkość, rozdzielając nagrodę i karę według pełnionych czynów.
The fourth Sibylline book is an example of literature originating in the Jewish diaspora. The Author aims to lead the pagans to the truth about the true and only God, the creator of the universe. The evil spreading throughout the Earth is the consequence of failure to worship the true God. If they do not respond to his call to conversion, the Creator will intervene and decide the fate of this world. He is omnipotent, and yet cruel. He is going to judge the humanity, choosing between prize and punishment, in accordance with one’s deeds.
