    Troska salezjanów o bpa Antoniego Baraniaka SDB w okresie jego internowania w Marszałkach (29 grudnia 1955 r. – 1 kwietnia 1956 r.)
Wąsowicz, Jarosław (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
During the night of 25th to 26th of September 1953, at the same time when Stefan Wyszyński the Primate of Poland, a Salesian bishop Antoni Baraniak SDB, was arrested. One of the Cardinal’s closest co-workers was imprisoned for three years at a detention centre in Mokotów district in Warsaw where he was brutally interrogated and subjected to physical and psychological torture. He was, among others, interrogated 145 times sometimes even for several hours in a row. He had his fingernails pulled out and was often held for many days naked in a freezing cold cell full of faeces. In spite of cruel tortures he never broke down and did not testify against the Primate which was the main goal of the communist authorities. If they had received any information related with Stefan Wyszyński’s pastoral activity, they would have been able to sue him and accuse of high treason and a counter-revolutionary initiatives. In the state of physical exhaustion, bishop Baraniak was later transferred to a Salesian house in Marszałki near Ostrzeszów in Poland and subjected to house arrest. He stayed there from December 29th, 1955 to April 1rd, 1556. From Marszałki the bishop went to sanatorium in Krynica where he managed to improve his health condition ruined by the period of imprisonment. The article deals with the Salesians’ concern about bishop Antoni Baraniak during his internment in Marszałki.

Tajemnica i analogia we współczesnym mówieniu o Bogu
Świeżyński, Adam (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
The language of theology has always been liable to get to one of two extremes. The first one consists in an assumption that we cannot say anything about God as the Divine Being cannot be expressed in human language. The other extreme assumption is that theological terms can be used unequivocally both in the discourse on God and on man. One way to avoid those two traps is to adopt the method of analogy. A discrepancy between the „theory” regarding God and the „experience” of His actions (or lack of action) in one’s life, poses a challenge for modern theology. The use of analogy in statements about God does not in itself prevent the conflict between commonly accepted statements about God and His experience in everyday life. However, metaphorical analogy provides a defined mediation, which may be qualified as an indirect recognition of some states of things by human mind. How does it influence the question of recognition and acknowledgment of God’s existence? Perhaps, we are doomed to everlasting shifts from one analogy to another in order to grasp the fact of His presence and activity.

Dwa sposoby uprawiania filozofii w wychowaniu
Starnawski, Witold (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Philosophy serves pedagogy in many ways: in the study of the principles of education, for critical reflection on educational methods and to stimulate pedagogical self-reflection. There are two approaches to philosophical study: professional and amateur (non-professional). While the first one ought to be adopted by philosophers, the amateur way plays a more significant role in education. It is based on an educator’s own experience, on an analysis of everyday events which have philosophical meaning. Such self-reflection, if correctly realized, leads to a universal (not individual) truth about man. Philosophy can also be misused in education, it may induce excessive propensity for contemplation, multiplication of doubts and lead to the weakening of human will.

Wykluczenie społeczne młodzieży w okresie międzywojennym. Towarzystwo Salezjańskie wobec powyższych wyzwań
Niewęgłowski, Jan (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
The Salesian Society undertook educational activity on Polish land in 1898, which was still during the time of the partitions. The first institution was in Oświęcim situated in the territory annexed by Austria. After Poland regained independence in 1918, Salesians joined actively in the reconstruction of the destroyed country. Their efforts above all focused on the area of school and educational work. During the years 1918-1939, outside of typical institutions such as schools, they also conducted activity in other areas of youth work. This article presents a number of educational institutions run by the Salesian Society in the interwar period.

Koadiutor Jan Kajzer współtwórcą polskiego stylu art deco
Kostrzyńska-Miłosz, Anna (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
The design work of the Salesian Coadjutor Jan Kajzer (1892-1976) is not generally known, even though he was an esteemed artist in the inter-war period. He began his education in the years 1908-12 at the Salesian Crafts School in Oświęcim, and subsequently attended the Nuremberg School of Interior Design (1921-22), Cracow’s School of Industrial Arts (1924-26), and the Technische und Kunstgewerbliche Tischler Fachschule in Cothen (Anhalt) (1926). From 1930, Kajzer studied at the Department of Interior Design at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under, among others, the guidance of Wojciech Jastrzębowski (later on Kajzer became his assistant). On the basis of his design projects, he was invited to join the Ład Artistic Cooperative. At the 1936 Ład’s exhibition, he displayed a set of living-room furniture which was widely praised. He won a number of awards: that of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Public Education in 1936; an individual prize of the National Culture Fund; and a prize of the Guild of Master Carpenters, Turners, and Sculptors in Poznan. During World War II, Kajzer designed many sacral interiors.

Przesłanki pracy resocjalizacyjnej w aspekcie wielowymiarowego podejścia do osoby ludzkiej
Kudlak, Grzegorz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Social pathology is a toxic and threatening phenomenon for the human person because it goes beyond the scope of his internal self-regulatory capacity. It takes place simultaneously at several levels of human functioning, for example, at the socio-ethical, psychological and spiritual level. The offender is usually not in a position to independently adapt to standards or adopt certain values, has a difficult contact with his or her environment, may experience psychological problems and, finally, the impairment and distortion may also be spiritual aspects of his functioning and self-realization. The interactions of rehabilitation should be conducted on comparable levels, covering different aspects of the pathology, by a supporting and accompanying personal relationship, psychological support and spiritual support. A multi-dimensional approach to the problem is conducive to maximizing social reintegration.

Rola sakramentu pokuty i Eucharystii w świetle nauczania i praktyki wychowawczej św. Jana Bosko
Hańderek, Jan (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
In education, St. John Bosco (1815 -1888) drew attention to the harmonious growth of man. Among the proposed measures, the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist occupy a fundamental place. By breaking with sin, the first constitutes a means for restoring communion with God. A key role in this process is played by repentance, confession and the resolve to improve. Extremely important is the person of the confessor, who in the name of Christ forgives sins. The Eucharist serves to maintain communion with God. He, as food working in the juvenile soul, bestows on the youth the strength to overcome any difficulties. He fills them with a light and power for the inner transformation of their wills towards seeking good. Jesus shapes the soul of a young person because he transforms the person who accepts Him into Himself.

„Mała sekretarka miłości” – orędzie Miłosierdzia Bożego przekazane słudze Bożej s. Benignie Konsolacie Ferrero (1885-1916)
Grzyb, Justyna Anna (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Manuscripts of the Servant of God sister Benigna Konsolata Ferrero, carefully studied by her confessor, Father Luigi Boccardo, were printed shortly after her death. Even though she already bore the title of “Apostle of Mercy,” no one at that time could have guessed that she would become one of the earliest precursors of the Divine Mercy. One of the first to discover the character of Sr. Benigna Konsolata was Father Michal (Michael) Sopoćko, the confessor of Saint Sister Faustina Kowalska. Already knowing the message of his penitent, he revealed the similarities between the two messages. The purpose of the message dictated to the Servant of God is devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and reveals His greatest attribute, which is the Mercy of God.

Salezjański Ruch Młodzieżowy związany z Towarzystwem św. Franciszka Salezego i jego relacja do prawa kanonicznego
Domaszk, Arkadiusz (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
The formation and development of new ecclesial movements responds to the call of the Magisterium of the Church for the laity to take on evangelizing activities in the modern world. One of the new movements which has sprung up in recent decades is Movimento Giovanile Salesiano. The movement is linked to the Association of St. Francis de Sales and refers to the spirituality and pedagogy of St. John Bosco. The activity of Movimento Giovanile Salesiano is directed towards youth. This article outlines the general ideas of the aforementioned movement and its activity on the basis of the example of one Salesian province. Ecclesial movements are regulated by law, although it should be emphasized that their spiritual element distinguishes them, and structures and legal solutions accompany their further stages of development. For ecclesial movements a regular point of reference is the norms of the Code of Canon Law from 1983, particularly the parts which deal with ecclesiastical associations. The aforementioned movement is not a very tight group because other various actors working on behalf of youth focus around this movement: associations, groups and other movements. Movimento Giovanile Salesiano does not have a single uniform legal structure, nor does it have a separate statute. The existence and mission of this movement is approved of and described by documents of the Salesian Congregation i.e. General and Provincial Chapters. The main organizing element is the coordination and animation of the movement through the appointment of individuals and supervisory structures.

    J. Tischnera myśl etyczno-społeczna jako polska odmiana „compassio”
Czekalski, Rafał (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
This article attempts to demonstrate the relationships between a new political theology developing in the 20th century in Western Europe and the ethical-social thought of J. Tischner. The starting point of both concepts is the non-culpable suffering of man. The article presents countermeasures proposed by J. Tischner against non-culpable suffering, i.e. mercy, solidarity and Christian hope. Tischner’s philosophy is far from utopian dreams of the complete elimination of suffering, which is simply impossible here on earth. The philosopher from Krakow proposes, however, measures which allow one to endure difficult situations with dignity. Tischner himself extracts from the Gospel the values which Christianity continually offers to an ever more ruthless, indifferent and cold world.

Wychowanie i duchowość w praktyce systemu prewencyjnego Jana Bosko
Chrobak, Stanisław (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
Pedagogical reflection has always been associated with the conviction that upbringing is an art and it requires a special kind of sensitivity, innovative activities and creative engagement. Don Bosco’s upbringing system, in which specific resources are reason, religion and a loving upbringing, appoints for educators and students an attitude of witness to religious life and openness to religious values. This system is characterized by five main elements: concreteness, deep spirituality, universalism, a wide openness to multiple recipients, and the possibility of engaging many co-workers. The preventive system is called «a spiritual experience», and not only pedagogy. Spirituality as a human disposition represents a potential which can be developed throughout one’s entire life.

One of the essential catechetical and pastoral problems is the question of preparation for first confession and Holy Communion. Interest in this issue is an expression of concern by catechists and priests regarding the proper formation of children before receiving these sacraments. This theme has returned recently in connection with the implementation of the guidelines of the Core Curriculum of the Catechesis approved on 8 March 2010. The document gives a few indications in preparing children for the sacraments of Christian initiation: Penance and Reconciliation as well as Holy Eucharist. The instructions concern, among other things: the time of accession to these sacraments, forms of the pastoral-liturgical meetings for children and their parents in the period of preparation, their frequency and subject matter, and finally, the religious knowledge required of children at this stage of education. The approximation of these issues seems to be crucial as they may in fact affect the manner of work of individuals responsible for the education and religious formation of children preparing for their first confession and First Holy Communion.

System prewencyjny ks. Jana Bosko w badaniach ks. prof. Józefa Wilka SDB
Bieleń, Robert (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2014)
This article is an analysis of the research conducted by the late Prof. Józef Wilk SDB into the preventive system created by St. Don Bosco. Since he was a Salesian with an educational background in pastoral work and pedagogy, Fr. Wilk analyzed the preventive system in the context of these three areas. Hence, for Fr. Wilk, the preventive system was above all a Salesian heritage. For him, educational love constituted the essence of the preventive system and he considered remaining faithful to the youth as the actualization of the preventive system. He also regarded Salesian youth spirituality as a general proposal emanating from the preventive system.
